Spent a lovely day on the grounds of Opus 40 amidst all the amazing art and sculptures by Harvey Fite. This is a one of a kind place. A great place to walk around and enjoy nature. I came early in the day while it was still cool and not crowded. I would not recommend bringing children because they would not appreciate it and will become bored.

The Falling Waters Preserve is a nice, short (30 minute each way) hike through a nature preserve. Trails are well marked and maintained; suitable for regular shoes (hiking boots not necessary). My only complaint is that more people might visit if there were more signs. We were trying to find it from a map and mapping program. Streets have no signs, the facility has no sign until you actually find its parking lot, and even roads have multiple names, not all signed or used by the mapping programs.
But if you can find it, Falling Waters is a good, short walk.

On a hot August day, we took a morning walk to the Saugerties Lighthouse. Not many people were around. The views of the grasses in the marshland, the wildflowers, the river, and the historic lighthouse were serene and beautiful. Much of the trail is on well-kept boardwalks. Definitely worth the hike.

My first visit was a day trip with my best friend May 2022. Our guide Michelle was wonderful and helped make the day so much fun! My second visit was a 3-night stay at the Homestead with my husband. We had a wonderful stay. Loved the interaction with the animals! You can tell they are well taken care of. The staff and volunteers were very friendly and helpful answering questions and discussing the animals. Michelle made sure we were well stocked with great breakfast foods, nut milks, homemade deserts, etc. I read a few of the negative reviews and just have to comment on them. If you are not vegan and take offense to being lectured on the torment and horrible things that happen to factory farm animals, I am confused about why you were there in the first place. The animals are not there to entertain visitors and their children. Our wonderful guide and hostess Michelle knew there was no need to lecture, as we have been vegan for 16 years, and I seriously doubt she would ever lecture any visitors. Compassion and respect is what these animals deserve, and it is obvious the staff truly care.

Nathan's collection of Woodstock footage is great. Really enjoyed the 10 minute video. Nathan himself is a gifted story teller, who is easily sidetracked. Let him! The offshoot stories were fun. Be open and put yourself in a peace & love state of mind and you will enjoy this trippy, one-of-a-kind experience. ✌☮

I signed up for outside yoga with Saugerties Yoga. What a neat park for my morning practice. It is a hidden gem. The road to the upper park is hidden and I wouldn't have found it without following another yoga student.

This is a lovely wooded area to hike near the Esopus. It has a few short trails that loop around. Take a photo of the map at the kiosk on Shady Lane before going because some areas are marked better than others. Most of the trails are easy to moderate in difficulty. This is a nice spot tucked away in Saugerties. There is very limited parking off Shady Lane.

Well kept lawn area right on the water. BBQ grills, playground, restrooms open mostly.

Great place to picnic before or after kayaking with I Paddle NY, which launches from this site.

Nice upgrades have been added throughout the years (mounting blocks at the rings, AC permanent bathrooms, better food, covered bleachers/seating areas, etc). Highly recommend renting a Golf Cart or bringing a bike to get around.
Footing is great for the horses and always enough space to school and lunge. The staff is pleasant and it's a very efficiently run horse show. If you happen to be in the area, come and check it out!

The farmers market is just a block or two from the rest of the very walkable village of Saugerties.
It is worth stopping by and checking out the local farm products, local wines, and crafts. You can usually get hot food and there is usually some good local talent playing right near the sitting area.

kayak rentals here are pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for - my kayak didn’t even have foot pedals on it. This side of the creek is also much shorter than the one on the other side of the bridge, so filling two hours was a little challenging. But it is an option and the nicest thing about it is that you get a lovely view of the lighthouse as the creek opens into the river. At the upper end there are the falls by the bridge.

A real Saugerties Village gem, and a pleasure to visit. This store and art gallery does not carry the usual creepy tourist fare. There are unique objects and home decor from furniture to wood carvings to corals - beautiful, well-chosen stuff! The art gallery is one-of-a-kind. The space is in more than one room, and the artists shown are first-rate fine artists. It's really nice to see art along with all the other objects.

This is a quiet shaded waterfront park located along the Esopus Creek and is just a short distance from the Hudson River. You can sit and relax, stroll, or launch a car top boat. I launched my kayak there and paddled past the Saugerties lighthouse into the Hudson River and headed south to Tivoli Bays. It was a good day to be on the river.
