- Haytham Abu FirasQatar14,170 contributionsI can call it fruit and vegetable market. Still you can many others like spices, nuts, stalls selling souvenirs and others. Mangoes, bananas and lichen are the main fruit products here. One piece of a good mango is 1099 shillings equal to 0.4 dollars, but this figure may get double or triple when they recognize that you are not local.Written March 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ParadisetrotterDubai, United Arab Emirates16 contributionsThis is a very unique artistic place.
The henna paintings are equisite! The ladies are extremely talented using this painting technique.
I have purchased one of their artworks and wish had a bigger luggage to take more!
They also do body henna painting in store, so I had my hand done.

- Simon A4 contributionsA great place with great salesmen!
Not too pushy, but behaving as they should upon a customer. They offered many paintings for a good price, and we were very satisfied.Written November 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jay SMumbai, India53 contributionsNice little space in one of the alleyways. It sells handmade products, handicrafts, paintings and soaps. Bought 2 soaps which were elegantly wrapped in handmade paper and smelt nice.Written January 29, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CarloFedeliMonaco121 contributionsSelling the usual prints and designs that vendors will try and sell you on the beach. Honestly nothing new or exceptional about it, if not that it is sheltered in case of rain. Not quite the sort of "gallery" you'd expect. Still one of the nicest huts in Nungwi village though.Written March 31, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rosario_itBelgium1,827 contributionsThe beautiful which hosts the Cultural Arts Gallery it's quite attractive because it has been restored preserving the old structure.

- petesaundUnited Kingdom3,919 contributionsI visited this gallery as the artwork was obviously high end with a series of diverse styles by masters as well as creative young up and coming artists. It was also like a museum in some ways and. it give you an insight into where the art world is in Tanzania.Unlike the majority of the tourist galleries in Stone Town where the art is very loud overpowering in its colours and in your face this is a different world where the quality is on another level - subtle use and balance of colours and more abstract style
I had liaised with Marina to arrange a visit as I was attracted to the works of the deceased David Mzugano who was a leading follower of Tinga Tinga movement which uses bicycle paints which are much thicker. Also the vegetation paintings appealed to me as well for the unique style and colours
I also discovered he has a number of sons who paint in the same style and I noted their works in another gallery in Stonetown.
You pay for quality and I am delighted with my purchase
The gallery is a little off the beaten track and you will need a tuktuk to get their but it is also a stunning design
Marina kindly provided me with complimentary copy of David Mzugano book delivered to my hotelWritten November 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. All the production is done by women. Remember to check the time of the tides... otherwise you won't see anything! The tour lasts about an hour on the beach, then in the workshop where you see how the soap is made. You are welcomed with a drink, then a little later a refreshing towel. Ideal to bring back for oneself or to please. The team was very nice and welcoming. I highly recommend it!Written August 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Haytham Abu FirasQatar14,170 contributionsFish market is mainly for fish and then other seafoods. In here, it’s the other way, it’s mainly seafood and then fish. Such an island very rich in sea and its products make seafood is in ample quantities and good prices. Had a nice short visit in Fish market, watched sellers with their products ready for cleaning what you buy.Written March 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hanna LeeDubai, United Arab Emirates13 contributionsWhen I've entered East Africa Merchants the atmosphere was welcoming. Scent of spices spread all over the shop, great selection of products were displayed thoughtfully and carefully. Above all, the lady who welcomed me with a warm smile knew the products inside out which made my shopping experience even better. I am a big fan of products with stories.
I wanted to buy a bracelet by Lithos but at that time they didn't have the design that I wanted and she said she'll keep me posted. She kept her promise. I am very happy with my Tanzanite bracelet which will remind me of the story of Tanzanite and my stay in Zanzibar.
