This small out-of-the-way museum is worth a stop in Tucumcari. It has clear explanations of fossils and what the fossil record shows, along with bronze-cast of fossils. The community college has a bronze foundry where the work is done. You can also look into the lab at the museum.

I love murals, and this was definitely a scavenger hunt! The murals are spread all over downtown, and it's up to you to find them all. If you're lucky, the visitor center will give you a printout with the location of each mural. If not, you can always find this information online. We didn't find all the murals, unfortunately, but we sure had fun trying!

A very well down fairly small (3 story building) museum, entirely volunteer staffed. Great information about the yes, Euro-history of Tucumcari and eastern New Mexico. Quite a lot to see here

This museum is based in the old depot (station) alongside the current freight only railroad lines. Popped in and spoke to a very friendly informative volunteer who gave me a brief history of the railroad in the town. Had a browse around the museum as well.

It is a small museum, but it houses the largest photo collection of Route 66. It was awesome seeing all the pictures from the mother road along with all the beautiful classic cars. The guy who took our money was really friendly and even gave us a printed map of where to look for the downtown murals. He also suggested Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, which turned out to be an amazing stop! It's $5 admission, and parking is free. Be sure to stop by and check it out.

Fun little town with lots of old sights. Wish there were a few more shops with souvenirs, but it is a nice slice of history.

This shop in Tucumcari New Mexico is one of the jewels of Route 66. Its right in the middle of town on Route 66 Boulevard. In addition to the expected Route 66 stickers, tees and hats, there’s a large and unique assortment jewelry, hand made pillows, throws home decor items.
Theres plenty of convenient parking and even covered parking reserved for the motor cycling travelers. All that is terrific but the best thing about this shop is the owner.. She is welcoming, fun and so creative. DON’T MISS THIS SHOP!

Great little shop to get your Route 66 souvenirs. We stopped in as part of a 2 week Route 66 road trip. Staff was friendly, store was well kept. Come in, spend money and keep places like this alive.

My husband and I were traveling through Tucumcari and decided to have a picnic at Northside park. It was a quiet park. They had lots of playground equipment but older than what I have seen in most playground but still in good condition. There was one small pavilion, 3 picnic tables, lots of trees for shade but no restrooms. The park is one block by one block in size and well mowed. The chain link fence along the main road was 6 foot tall and the other 3 sides were 4 foot tall. The park has a basketball court as well.

This place was suggested by someone from the Dinosaur Museum. Pretty cool place. Had the pork ribs. Choice of two or four. I should have taken just two. They were big and fall off the bone meaty. About $22 for 4 ribs, 2 sides and free refill on lemonade which was pretty good. Not just a food joint but you can also stroll around the store while waiting for your food. Check out their menu before you go as they have other items to choose from.

It's not fancy, it's only 9 holes, but it's super cheap with a cart and a very nice little course. With all the trees and surroundings, you'll be suprised at how nice it is out there, and they actually have a really good golf pro too...

The theater is very cute. It’s obviously still under renovation, the ceiling needs repair. The prices are wonderful, we paid $11.00 for 2 people! Soda & candy was $5.00!!

Since EVERYTHING is closed on Sunday, We stopped here again because we like the food, the servers and the now Manager! Last visit was when the change of owner took place but we did see the same staff. Still good food and service.

Chris Tapia at ArteFormz Custom Artwork has been an asset to us in creating logos for our business here in Tucumcari. He has suggested items to bring into our business that have been successful.
He is always a phone call away and responds quickly. Definitely an asset here in Tucumcari.
