Nice park along the ocean. Campground had some really nice spots, then a number that were like big open fields with lots of spaces, which may be good for groups. Spots under the trees were nice and more private, but oddly set up in that you had to park your camper by your vehicle, not inside by the picnic table. Convenient short walk to nice beach and a convenient dump station (for a fee). Make sure you look at directions carefully for the dump station, or you'll have to pay again if you let the hatch close between tanks.

We loved the views from the cliffs. This park is dog friendly; however, some areas would be unsafe and difficult for dogs to traverse. People should also use caution when walking along the cliffs.

I LOVE visiting lighthouses and make a point to try and do so whenever I'm near one. Point Cabrillo is not the most impressive light I've visited but it is very charming and the view is still impressive. It has clearly been upkept well and all the other buildings match the lighthouse in color and style.

The park operates under regular business hours so I was not able to make it to the gift shop while it was open. However, I was delighted that you are still able to go and visit the (outside of) the lighthouse after it has "closed". And with no admission cost! It's a bit of a walk (downhill) from the parking lot but the path is paved and accessible. There are picnic tables where you can enjoy the view.

This is definitely a must-see if you are staying in the area, especially if you need a little something to do. I didn't notice any paths down to the beach but there are so many other beaches in the area that it was nice to enjoy some cliffs without the temptation of the climb haha.

We enjoyed the coastal cliff trail. I think dogs are allowed in some parts of the park but perhaps not all parts. Check the park website before bringing your pet. Our dog visited the beach and walked the cliff trail with us.

This is a wonderful place to enjoy huge redwoods. The paths are not narrow walking paths as they are in some redwood parks. Rather, there is a large expanse where you can stand on fallen trees, take photos, and not have to be jostled by other visitors. It is an absolute delight to experience the redwoods in this park.

This park was amazing! The sites had lots of room for adventure and a beach right next store. Warning: the sites are on a hill so be aware if thats an issue for you.

Absolutely amazing! These giant redwood trees eclipse even the ones at Muir Woods and this grove has less underbrush because of a fire a few years ago. Also, this park is way off the beaten path, so it is not nearly as mobbed as Muir Woods can be. The grove trail has one short uphill climb going in to the grove and another shorter uphill on the way out, both on a wide gravel trail. They are working to install boardwalks on the trail around the grove itself, but in the meantime, it can be muddy in spots. The grove was recommended as a good rainy day activity and it definitely was! We barely felt any rain under the canopy of the trees. Watch where you step as there are some very cool salamanders in the grove. There is very little cell service in the area of the park, so be sure to screen shot or download a trail map before you go, put your phone in airplane mode so you don't drain the battery hunting for signal, and enjoy the quiet of the woods.

Dog friendly park along the shore. There is ample parking and bathrooms at the visitor center. The trails are well maintained with beautiful views of the stunning rock lined shore . The small beach is accessible down a flight of steep stairs.

Nice sandy beach by the creek mouth. Light/warm sand (July) and a little creek mouth to the ocean. Great picnic or spot for kids and dogs.

This was just an unexpected bonus on my way to the Inn I was going to be staying at. I didn’t stop on the drive but enjoyed the beauty of the redwoods on the narrow, twisty road that gave me time to look.

We were driving south on Hwy. 1 from Leggett. We knew there was water out there, but Westport-Union Landing State Beach was our first view of it. The ocean can hide and then burst out with wonderful views like these here. It was an overcast day and we were only driving by, but it was lovely to stop at an overlook and see the wide ocean.
We did not stop at the beach campground.

We had such a great family group camping across from the beach at the Jug Handle farm. I wish we could go ever year. We explored (towns , hikes pubs, food, and relaxed)
Every place except one was very great. The best excursion was to B Bryant preserve .
    I kissed a giraffe.

The California coast is beautiful and if you drive you are always wanting to stop for the views...this is a great place to do so.
