What travelers are saying
- Bruce MCarlsbad, CA585 contributionsLike much of this California Coast, the Headlands walk was beautiful in sun or fog. It adjoins the town, detracting a bit from the "wild" or "remoteness" gained from other areas, but is a pretty stroll and easily accessible.Written April 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stephaniewoolseySan Jose, CA185 contributionsWe only took the boardwalk hike, which on our day was extremely windy. But the views were beautiful! There are many more paths available to take, both right off the main boardwalk trail and on the other side of the parking lot. This park has campsites as well as beach access/paths, and we saw plenty of young deer with their mamas as we drove out.Written February 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Homecroft56Nineveh, IN409 contributionsWonderful lighthouse on scenic site complete with lighkeepers homes. We had a handicap parking permit and were able to drive up to the lighthouse area. Saved a long hike.Written May 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- markdu2017Orangevale, CA71 contributionsI highly recommend taking the hike up the canyon to the falls. Most of the way it's super easy. A bit of a climb and you have to scramble over a log or two on the trail just prior to reaching the falls, but not too difficult.Written February 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adventure414466544561 contributionBeautiful state Park, Beach and campground. The host was very nice & helpful and the campground is very well maintained. The sites are huge and there's a creek running through the area. The beach is just across the road, only a few minute's walk.Written May 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LinnieV3 contributionsDog friendly park along the shore. There is ample parking and bathrooms at the visitor center. The trails are well maintained with beautiful views of the stunning rock lined shore . The small beach is accessible down a flight of steep stairs.Written August 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wes YBellevue, WA42 contributionsNice sandy beach by the creek mouth. Light/warm sand (July) and a little creek mouth to the ocean. Great picnic or spot for kids and dogs.Written July 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jaseatonSilver Spring, MD2,511 contributionsOn our way back to San Francisco from Mendocino, we stopped off at Hendy Woods State Park for a picnic lunch. While there, we found d ourselves lured into taking g about a mile-long trail through redwoods forest. - BigSurific ToursPaso Robles, CA3 contributionsA walk in these woods are the perfect morning activity after a stay at Orr Hot Springs down the road. Love this short hike through the woods, that you can easily extend to a slowly meander and exploration. Pretty shaded and thus cold, bring your layers and a jacket. Trail can get slippery when wet. Wear good shoes and tread lightly. Plan ahead and pack a picnic to enjoy in the woods, you won't regret it.Written January 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Allison7777Citrus Heights, CA10 contributionsThis was just an unexpected bonus on my way to the Inn I was going to be staying at. I didn’t stop on the drive but enjoyed the beauty of the redwoods on the narrow, twisty road that gave me time to look.Written September 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lwilhelm2433Reno, NV9 contributionsWe had such a great family group camping across from the beach at the Jug Handle farm. I wish we could go ever year. We explored (towns , hikes pubs, food, and relaxed)
Every place except one was very great. The best excursion was to B Bryant preserve .

We knew there was water out there, but Westport-Union Landing State Beach was our first view of it. The ocean can hide and then burst out with wonderful views like these here. It was an overcast day and we were only driving by, but it was lovely to stop at an overlook and see the wide ocean.
