I love this park-----right in the city of Vegas is this oasis of 4 small lakes---regular trees all over ( not just palm trees )-----tons of birds--and birds we've never seen in the midwest-----right next to Tullie Springs--old Divorce Ranch with wild peacocks walking around--very interesting

I've been to Las Vegas regularly for nearly 25 years but had never visited the State Park. It is an urban area of North Las Vegas, but inside the walls of the Fort, it is still of earlier eras. The admission was just $3, so well worth it. The exhibit hall traced the areas prehistoric, early inhabitant and European visitors to the area from the Spanish Jesuit parties, through the Mormon immigration, farming, and the railroads. Interesting to view the short (15 minute film) and various exhibits in an air conditioned building, The grounds are of less interest, but the Las Vegas creek (or its artificial facsimile?) is still there running through the fort grounds.

    Well worth a quick visit.
