- va5236Cameron, MO183 contributionsFirst I would suggest you need at least 2 hours probably more to explore this place. I know traveling with children you can’t linger as long. If you’re seniors like us the houses, train depot & ghost town require a lot more time and attention. My husband really enjoyed looking at all the old equipment scattered around outside in the ghost town area. We both enjoyed the nostalgia of the old homes. The inside museum had a lot of neat displays too. There should be something here for everyone to enjoy. Also the admission price of $2.00 and $1.00 for seniors is unbelievable. There was a place for extra donations if you are able. If you’re anywhere close to this museum I would say it would be well worth your time to stop by.Written February 1, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CanuckAlbertaAlberta716 contributionsWe enjoyed the quiet during our January stay at Lake Las Vegas. If you are looking for gambling and nightlife this probably isn't the place for you. The village is very sleepy with only 4 restaurants to pick from(in the evening) and many of the stores closed or reduced hours. It is a great place to use as a base camp to the strip or in our case the Lake Mead parkway which offers a variety of hiking and access to the River Mountains Loop trail.Written January 25, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - marie bWinnipeg, Canada353 contributionsWe are Vegas regulars. At first we loved staying on the strip. Now we stay off strip. Cheaper table limits, better comps, cheaper food. It’s better to pay for parking and just visit the strip. Now we did not stay here, but we will next time! First time here and we had a blast. Clean, great decor, got some free bets for the table games for downloading their app. Dealer John on Pai Gow was the best dealer I have had in a while, so funny and talkative. Helped my friend learn Pai Gow.Written October 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- runner24Orlando, FL2,287 contributionsWe were looking for something to do early in the morning that would be a change from the usual things to do in Vegas. After reading TA reviews, we thought this place would be perfect. It’s very nice, well managed, and free. We enjoyed our walk around the ponds and our views of the wildlife.
Enjoy.

Sadly after 2 hours they had to shut down the park because the desert weather was going crazy. Storm, Rain and Lightning. The park looked so cool and I bet it would have been a great experience. The security at the park is great, they reacted to the weather way before it escalated and sent us all to a shelter. Great Waterpark.Written July 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Kiana QLas Vegas, NV72 contributionsFun place to walk around when the weather is not too bad! It's great for gifts and shopping. And it's really close to the casino so that's fun. Parking we had to kind of just get lucky, but I always recommend visiting here.Written July 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travel_Addict_CyprusMichigan1,388 contributionsStaying in Las Vegas for 4 days, and planning to attend a show at 7pm that evening (Billy Joel and Sting, yay!) I was looking for some exploration not far from Vegas. I had a few places on my list, and decided to go to Sloan Canyon. I used AllTrails to read the trail descriptions and choose one that worked for us, so that we wouldn't have to wake up at the crack of dawn, hike leisurely, have lunch, and go back to the hotel to get ready and get to Allegiant Stadium in time for the concert.
We hiked the Petroglyph Canyon Trail. The descriptions and suggestions on AllTrails were good. The first mile of the hike was a boring walk through a wash, and with the temperature in the high 70s i was starting to question my decision. But, after that the trail got interesting. We went clockwise, We didn't see any petroglyphs in the beginning. We saw plenty though, after we rock scrambled up the boulders. There is quite a bit of rock scrambling but it was worth going through the narrows, and the petroglyphs were cool to look at. We then headed down the Cowboy Trail, to complete the loop and return to the parking lot. Which meant, another mile in the boring wash. But all in all, a good hike, of about 4.1m.

We did approximately half the circuit from Lake Las Vegas to Hoover Dam. The first section between LLV and the fish hatchery was quite challenging with many ups and down and great views down onto the lake. From the fish hatchery to Lake Mead Visitor center had some climbs but more gradual. From the visitors center you can catch the Historic Railroad Hiking Trail which is very flat all the way out past the 5th tunnel then it drops down steeply all the way down to the dam. There is a nice rest area just past the 5th tunnel with table, shade, bathroom, and water fountain. We were fortunate as it was a cool winter day, it was a great ride, but we did have to work for it. I would not recommend this loop for beginners.Written January 22, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
