- Jessica KTarpon Springs, FL742 contributionsWe went to the zoo not expecting to see much as it was our last day in Missouri and it was only 26 degrees. But we had time to kill and why not? It is a free zoo, but there is a $10 parking charge. Wow! Pleasantly surprised at how many animals were out and about - and the enclosures are so well laid out and seemingly right up close. The penguins are a raucous group - so close you can almost touch them (not allowed btw). Seeing the tigers running around and playing was a delight. I would love to come back. Definitely one of the better zoos I’ve been to!Written January 5, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Diane ElamColumbia, MO292 contributionsThis place is a must see while in St. Louis! There is always a lot to see and do! While it involves a lot of walking, the paths are easy to navigate. There are multiple different gardens throughout the property and they always have the prettiest flowers. The multitude of water lilies were the highlight of my last visit!!Written October 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MNM1011Decatur, IL3,137 contributionsWe visited late afternoon in August. It was hot, but we saw bison, elk, deer and raccoons. We stayed in the car, but saw that there are hiking trails which we will come back for another time.

We arrived shortly after they opened for the day. Our group went inside to buy tickets to ride up in the Arch. There was a bit of a wait for the ticket, then another wait to go through security. We were then assigned a place to stand. If you have any problem walking, please let the attendant know. There are some stairs involved.
We took the tram to the top. They give you approximately 10 minutes to look around and take pictures of the city through the windows. There is a nice view of the Mississippi River. When our time was up, they told us to return to the tram for the ride down. When we got to the bottom, we visited the souvenir shop which was very nice.
Plan on spending a little bit of time on the grounds and inside the monument. I wish we had more time at this place. - stlgirlySaint Louis, MO166 contributionsI am a bit biased, as I live within a four minute walk of this park and tell everyone it is the best in St. Louis.
I love it in all seasons, Saturday mornings (8-12) are for markets during the April-November season.
The Instagram for the park is a great resource on what nights food trucks will be around, live music, and other events such as Festival of the Nations.
It is great for kids, walking dogs, and there are multiple historic pavilions you can rent for events. The park houses two horse (one of them miniature), a native bird wood walk, a palm house, and two water areas for kiddos. There are two age-based playgrounds as well as multiple sports fields for booking through appropriate channels.
Seasons bring amazing flowers, a team of gardeners care for the elaborate grounds year round.
The park is also close enough to safety walk to neighborhood bars, restaurants, and coffee shops.Written July 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The entrance includes a spectacular overhead video featuring both undersea creatures and views of the universe, which was fascinating. Unfortunately, there was no seating available. More graphics during a "train ride" to the aquarium. There are many wonderful underwater views of species ranging from rivers to the oceans in both warm and cool climates. There are opportunities to touch stingrays, starfish, jellyfish, and even some species of sharks, which my grandson loved. The aquarium offers something for all ages! I would encourage the aquarium to add more seating. As an older adult, I found there to be a lot of walking but few places to rest. Be prepared to spend something in the neighborhood of $25 per person, and one to two hours for your visit. Your parking can be validated in the gift shop, reducing the cost to $5.Written July 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - patricia kSaint Louis, MO102 contributionsWe love this county park. There are numerous hiking trails, some of which are short. There's a half-mile paved trail that takes you by the river. There's also a short hike that leads you to a beautiful lookout. The cave is closed to the public but you can hike to it. There is a picnic pavilion and restrooms. Parking never seems to be an issue.Written June 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
