Finally we travelled to the highest point in Cartagena unavailable to large group tours and visited La Popa Monastery, a 17th century beautifully restored chapel and museum with breathtaking views of the Caribbean...
The old town was magic, and although it was full of tours from the ship, our guide managed to direct us to the parts of the town that mattered historically.

This trip was full of cultural insights and interesting fun facts, setting it apart from the typical tours you see vendors selling on the streets in the old city.
I was intrigued at this tour and holiday inn outside taxi drivers offers tours as well which are much cheaper and private for the amount around $56 for my husband and I.

I also think they should have a large sign in front of the boat... there are many tours going on so it took us a bit to figure out which one was ours.
I proposed to my fiancée on the sunset tour and the entire staff went above and beyond to help make this and unforgettable moment.

As experienced independent travelers, we don’t always opt for guided tours.
We don’t usually do paid tours, but we wanted to visit the Bazurto Market, and most people we talked to said that it was something best done with a guide.

I was only in Cartagena for about a day and a half, and had read that the Rosario Islands are a *must see*, but some reviews of tours of the area had me a little hesitant.
The tour guide Jorge was really friendly, accommodating and overall it was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

We discovered options for private boat tours and I was SO HAPPY to find this service, Boats 4 U.
They took us on a wonderful tour of the islands, to see Pablo Escobar's house & plane ( a highlight for our teenage boys), and for stops at different beaches.

The process of boarding the boat in the morning was hassle free (unlike all the other tours that leave from the port) and added to the relaxation of the day.
With multitudes of speedboat tours etc being offered.....this is without a doubt the best option.

... my expectations.. Let me start by saying that I bought this tour because it was much less expensive than the other tours and also because it had a greater value than the rest being that this tour made MANY stops.
We had a stop at the Saint Phillipe Fort, to the downtown area and walking tour within the walled city, the historical churches, streets, buildings truly gave you an overview of the history of Cartagena.
