- dlormandWhite House, TN306 contributionsWhat a charming place. Part of the Botanical Gardens but at a different location. Staff is friendly. Beautiful butterflies & great little gift shop.Written September 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Katie F39 contributionsGot lots of great deals at Nike outlet, Vera Bradley, Hanes outlet, and children’s place. Barely any dining options and the place was kind of dead. Near an area with plenty of other shopping for a day trip. Buildings were in some disrepair.Written June 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John MSt Louis1 contributionYou can ride on this 103-year-old Carousel for just two dollars for a 5 1/2 minute ride. Super friendly staff and a unique gift shop! It’s located in Faust Park near the butterfly house. There’s also an historic village and a really nice playground to enjoy plus concerts on Tuesday evenings during the summer!!Written March 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MichiganMelissa04Plymouth, MI851 contributionsThis is a really beautiful park with many historic homes. This is right next door to the Sophia Sachs Butterfly House and a historic carousel. Note that the Thornhill Mansion is not in the same area as the other homes - it is on the other side of the Butterfly House. Sadly the homes are only open a couple of months out of the year, and the carousel has limited hours also, so be sure to check the website. Signage is very limited here so you should check out information on the website. I actually had a hard time finding the website initially but got there eventually. A QR code to direct visitors to the website would have been most welcome, as well as perhaps a map. But I get it... that costs money to maintain.Written September 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zelda1234567St. Louis, MO68 contributionsThis park just keeps getting better with age. It’s a beautiful place for a casual stroll or power walk, full of lovely native plants and wildflowers. Lots if people have taken to fishing during these slow days of the pandemic. The Parks Department takes excellent care of the area. A real asset in the burbs.Written August 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ibrake4javaCollierville, TN338 contributionsWe saw this place on Trip Advisor and it was as close to our hotel so we drove over. This was a very cool sculpture. Not a must see but if you’re in the area, stop by for a quick look.Written June 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lee WChesterfield, MO40 contributionsWe went to see Black Magic doing Santana music on July 22, 2023. The line was long. When you get up to the entrance they checked your bags and scanned you. Once we got in the amphitheater there was not very many places to choose from to sit. We found a place to sit in our lawn chairs. A group of white people came and sat directly in front of us so that my son could not see the stage. The wife suggested that they move over but the husband would not move and said that they were perfectly okay where they were even though he knew they had sat down directly in front of us. My son ended up having to sit on a wall in order to see the stage. I still find that some people are very rude and still feel like they are more privileged than others. Other than that little incident the show was okay.Written July 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NinaRichmond, VA5 contributionsWhat a lovely surprise to see the Beautiful, Historic Thornhill Home in the midst of the impressive Botanical Gardens. Nature and history sharing the same environs. The Docents were very friendly and knowledgeable and the home very beautiful with many interesting pieces of Art and Furniture. I especially enjoyed the kitchen garden in the back with its herbs and vegetables. I wish we had had more time to linger in Thornhill Home and in the Botanical Garden.Written September 23, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - foelsg1Aruba20 contributionsWe actually were able to deal with the owners on our purchase. They’re some of the nicest and honest people I’ve ever had to deal with. Top quality equipment as well!! This is not big box store mediocre equipment. This is the stuff that lasts a very long time!Written September 22, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - walkersandtalkersMidway, KY189 contributions1) Get there early. They open the doors about 15 minutes prior to actual opening time. The lines get long fast and I think enjoying this on a slower day than we had would be key. Also do the accident waivers on-line before you get there.
2) I consider myself an active, flexible and fit 50 year old but I was sore the next day. There are a lot of bends and you arch your back on the slides. The slides drop and bend fast but the stops on some of the slides are abrupt. This is your warning.
3) Wear long sleeves and long pants. My kids and I enjoyed ourselves but came home with slide/ rug burns on our legs and arms.
4) Grab a table and save yourself the $6, $8 or $10 locker fees. They ran out of lockers while we were there so my wife grabbed a table and just watched from the sidelines. Lots of parents and grandparents hanging out, watching shoes and enjoying the kids running around.
5) Bathrooms. Socks are required to enjoy the slide park (they cost you $5 bucks) but you have to wear shoes in the bathroom (because kids pee on the floor and socks absorb everything). I would suggest bringing slides and tell your kids don't go in the bathroom with just socks!
6) Matts are the key to the slides but they ran out. The newer the matt, the better your experience will be. Hold onto your matt throughout your visit, there are only a few good ones but they really make a difference.Written December 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Darrell was bartending and informed me it was the oldest home brew store in Missouri. Luckily for anyone that walks in the door they also commercially brew very tasty beer.
I had the Wild West Wit which I really enjoyed. They have a variety of beers that should satisfy most everyone. They can crisp up a frozen pizza, but you can bring in your own food. There’s a Chinese restaurant next-door. They have boardgames, and it appears to be a family-friendly establishment.
Want to pay it forward? Buy a $7 beer for someone and put it on the chalkboard.
I highly recommend you add this as a stop when you’re checking out breweries in the St. Louis area.Written August 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
