What travelers are saying
- pat lGainesville, GA1,097 contributionsWe went here to dig fossils. Let's start with their isn't a lot of info to help you do this. The website offers some good info to start. Here is some more....
1. Park near the nature center. It is not a long walk at all. It is a little up hill, but not much. Having the bathroom at the end of your dig time makes it worth it though I do believe you can park on the "back" side of the park.
2. You need a hammer....but you really need your eyes. We found our best treasures lying on the ground. So while we chipped away at the wall for some time, we found fossils just sitting out and then we had to hammer them to get the stones around them broken enough to take home the piece we wanted.
3. This is not super isolated. There were people walking through and by on the trails all day.
4. There is little shade. Be prepared to be in the sun and take some water and a hat.
5. Take a little bucket with you to carry your finds. You can take out whatever you want as long as none of the specimens are bigger than your hand. You aren't going to find those so no worries anyway! But that's fine because you'll find lots of cool stuff - shells, trilobites, and other things.
6. Prepare to spend a half day if you like this kind of stuff.
7. We found many more things when we turned left off the entry path than going to the right and climbing down.
This is a nice little place. The nature center is cute, too.Written August 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In addition to the info you would expect to hear about the house and furnishings she added info she know about the family. It was great. Also the tour was more than an hour and then you are free to walk around out side on the beautiful grounds.Written September 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - William SShakopee, MN108 contributionsThe Mayo clinic historical suite is on the third floor and there is an elevator. The building itself is beautiful with the marble and brass through out. I enjoy history and spent over an hour in the historical suite with it's many objects and awards from the Mayo brothers.Written September 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Angelique LEscanaba, MI464 contributionsAbsolutely the most beautiful, family friendly park I have been to! The Veterans Memorial brings chills it is so beautiful! They are in the process of adding a memorial for fallen police officers that even not finished is Beautiful and touching! The park has a playground, ball diamond, golf course, running track, bicycle paths, bridges over the river, pools with water slides, I am sure I am forgetting something, but it is worth checking out, even if you just want a walk in the park!Written June 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dina WSurprise, AZ3 contributionsIf you decide to include the Plummer House on your bucket list to Rochester, MN, I hope Grace will be your docent. We met her at the Mayowood tour the day before, which is another excellent tour! Grace continued to fully live up to her name as we continued to find out. She was just as excited to see us as we were to see her. I was blessed to receive one of Grace's works of art as a gift, which I proudly display in my entryway.
Oh, and the home is interesting, to say the least. You must go down to the basement.

The place is open and airy with lots of windows to let in the natural light. There are lots of information desks with folks to point you in the right direction if you need. There's a museum in the hospital too so you can learn about the history of the organization. From the outside, it's fun to look inside the dome and see people eating and relaxing in the cafeteria area.Written August 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jer bBristol, CT1,855 contributionsMy daughter and I visited the Assisi couples in order for me to attend daily mass, which was a wonderful experience. The convent and its chapel are on beautiful grounds high above the city with gorgeous views all about. The building is very beautifully constructed and well taken care of. The chapel has very interesting stained glass windows with almost art deco designs and stations of the cross made with the mosaic technique. After mass, one of the sisters of St. Francis took us on a tour through the complex in and out of beautifully decorated parlors and down a long corridor that displays the history of the convent over many years. There is a cafeteria but that is only for the use of the sisters themselves. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Rochester and I left with a feeling of internal peace.Written September 22, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David K8 contributionsI had a flight of beers. Of course, some were better than others. Some were quite tasty. My regret was that I bought a souvenir glass and when I gave it as a present we found that some of the logo was missing.Written September 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dustythoughtsManchester, CT1,985 contributionsSilver Lake is a nice, manmade lake that offers a lot of outdoor activities: you can walk, jog, or bike on the 2-mile trail around the lake, or rent a boat to paddle around the lake itself. There are also spaces to picnic, play soccer or baseball, and rent a space for an event. Watch out for the Canadian geese, though - there are a lot of them, and they leave a lot of droppings. I think that the town could do a better job of cleaning up the goose poop, as it gets in the way of enjoying the outdoor space.Written August 23, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dustythoughtsManchester, CT1,985 contributionsReally fun, laidback brewery with some great options! I liked the strawberry wheat beer on tap, and they have some fun non-alcoholic sodas as well. Good pizzas as well. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, friendly staff, and reasonable prices.Written July 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - treborz1Foster City Ca334 contributionsThere is a reasonably good range of stores here (JC Penney; Barnes & Noble, etc.) and a lovely little food court. We found some really good food at cheap prices for a quick little lunch. Yihi Japanese just opened and had some nice dishes. I also really like the shop selling Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches.Written May 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deb ZLand O' Lakes, WI11 contributionsStaged in the intimate Black Box theater, this Neil Simon play is sweet, nostalgic and super funny. Loved it and so did the rest of the audience. It reminds us all about getting out on our own, young love and appreciating individuality in each other, even when it’s so different from our own. Plays through Nov 4, 2018.Written October 21, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
