- Cello12345Urbana, IL778 contributionsThis park is great for folks who want to swim. There's a fairly sizable sand dune between the parking area and the beach, with boardwalks to make the hike easier. A building with good restrooms (running water!) and a roofed picnic area is at the beginning of the boardwalks.Written July 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - L B7 contributionsMy teenage son and I enjoyed our hike on these trails. I have to say I am glad he was walking in front of me. Apparently he didn’t see the garter snake on the trail and he scared it as much as the “little guy” scared him. I say “little” but estimate it was about 15 inches long. Small for a snake, I guess, but big enough! Anyway, the trails were well marked and the route we took, thoughtfully, had a few resting spots along the way.Written August 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cello12345Urbana, IL778 contributionsThe long breakwater pier is fun to walk out onto - folks fishing, or just out for a pleasant walk. We enjoyed watching the barge/tugboat/trackhoe operation adding huge riprap to the outer breakwall. There's a nice beach, picnic tables, and a pavilion, and the park is adjacent to the Port Austin visitor center as well.Written July 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gusdogDetroitMacomb, MI222 contributionsVery unique & interesting art gallery just outside of Port Austin.
The church is beautiful. Took couple years to redo. Look at the photo book of before & after. Very unique & beautiful items from the 24 different artists. Everything is nicely displayed.
Worth the trip .... explore & then go across the street for ice cream.Written August 17, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The guides were knowledgeable and very friendly, several of them had been involved in the gradual renovation of this landmark for decades. And we had the opportunity to climb all of the way up to the top of this lighthouse for amazing views of the shoreline and the lake. Not to be missed if you are a fan of lighthouses!Written September 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nancy SMichigan93 contributionsI love visiting local historic centers and museums simply because it is amazing what you can find in them and the dedicated people who keep them open and running. There was a quilt show going on and there were some stunning works of art. Behind some of those were displays of a beautiful 1943 wedding dress, information about the great fire, photos of old high school graduating classes in the 1930s, etc. Quick drive out of Port Austin with a nice setting.Written August 25, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MoeTripperKnoxville, TN962 contributionsNice little park. Playground, covered picnic areas, nice bathrooms with one shower. Great RV/Camping park, great beach access, bouy markers for swimming only areas. Watercraft not too prominent. Pavilion and cooking grills available. Small play area for kids.Written September 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michael HWorthington, OH81 contributionsDo you have an Electric Vehicle. Spend the night and charge on either a 30 Amp or 50 Amp circuit. We decided to stay at a Break and Breakfast due to the rain, but we stopped in the morning to check out the facilities...Written July 2, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shawn garrett2 contributionsWe are from Indiana and came up for business for 2 days and our 8 yr old wanted to do something so we stopped just as it was time for them to close so I asked if they would be open the following day and they stayed open and let us do everything they had to offer. Staff was amazing and very polite. Would def. go there again. Only thing i would suggest would be a lit up sign by road. Place was a little hard to see even though it sits right on side of road.Written August 31, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stefan GAu in der Hallertau, Germany23 contributionsWe tried this place without scheduling a tee time. As we are at the end of the season there was no problem playing a 9-hole without a tee time. We also could have played 18 but since I am beginner I did wanted to play the 9-hole only.
The staff was friendly but there was no beer cart available, so you had to pull pops out of a machine.
We also did not try the food so I cannot make any comments on this.
Overall we liked that place and would recommend to go there.Written September 11, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
