What travelers are saying
- MorellaFarmington Hills, MI1,017 contributionsThe Canopy Walk , part of the Whiting Forest, is espectacular! The Fall colors give a picture perfect background.
The walk is not long. Note that each segment offers something unique (a view of a lake, a net where kids can play, a transparent overlook, etc).
There is a cafe towards the end of the walk: good quality barista style coffee, and a few eating items. There is a fireplace inside with plenty of seating available. The tables outside are beautiful as well. Every single detail was carefully watched.
There is a 0.7 mile walk from the Dow Gardens to the Canopy area. If you’re going with someone who has difficulty walking, you can request a parking pass that allows you to park at the Education Center.
If you like fall colors: NOW is the time to go.Written October 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had a great guide who led us through the house and told us interesting stories about Alden and the family. Make sure to visit the gardens before or after too.Written April 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OnTheMoveFarmington Hills, MI31 contributionsLots of room to roam for kids who hate to be tied down in their seats. Beer selection was very good. The game was great with a number of home runs.Written June 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- William L2 contributionsThe Tridge was unique and unusual so we had to check it out. It was on my list of things to do on our short stay in Midland.Written August 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - acedaughterBeverly Hills, MI1,091 contributionsWe enjoyed our visit to the Chippewa Nature Center. Inside were some interesting displays. Saw lots of wildlife out of the Wildlife Observation window, but nothing on the River side. Enjoyed a short walk on the Arbury trail.Written September 8, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- VaporK8Southfield, MI1,883 contributionsWe attended an amazing, edgy play in the comfortable little theatre here and will return again when other plays are offered. The actors, special effects, sound & lighting as well as the scenery composition is very well executed. Admission prices are reasonable. The restrooms are clean and large. A gift shop is on site as well.Written January 13, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MikeB1952Santa Fe, NM1,008 contributionsEach Wednesday and Saturday Midland has a Farmer’s Market in a nice area just off the downtown area. We decided to go even though we knew that there wouldn’t be much in the way of produce. And there wasn’t. Just off the parking area were several food trucks, several serving BBQ. A number of booths with summer plants. And a few booths selling produce. There was one selling cheese. We tasted a sample and were hooked. We bought two pieces (expensive, about $24). We looked around for something else to buy. But found little. However, our friend spied a booth selling white-fish dip and bought some for our Happy Hour. Even though there weren’t many ‘farmers’ selling produce, it was fun.Written July 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - acedaughterBeverly Hills, MI1,091 contributionsTh dahlias were just coming into bloom when we visited. So many different colors and varieties. Most were labelled. Obviously, a work of love by the volunteers.Written September 8, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- poukalaMacomb, MI957 contributionsGreat area in the middle of a large city! "Hiked" the mountain biking trails south loop and part of the north loop. Clocked Scott 6 miles, staying at the north area Monroe Street. Port-a-potties at the parking lot in the north end. Take are well marked, and rated "moderate" for the rocks, roots, and curves.Written April 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RJVlierMidland, MI60 contributionsI was there with my grandson. He would not leave until he was DONE. OK, he was getting hungry so I was able to get him to come home. Whenever he visits, we go the the Fun Zone and he has a ball.Written April 3, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PhotoGuy5 contributionsWhat a gem this park is! Lots of space. Lots of playground equipment. Lots of picnic shelters with charcoal grills. We attended a picnic for about 50-60 people. The kids had a great time running around and just being kids while the parents could keep an eye on them, but not worry they would be in traffic. Located along the river and adjacent to the rail trail.Written October 3, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DeeDeeeeMidland, MI111 contributionsThe city just went through and cleared a bunch of ash trees out this summer and the park looks very different. It was a safety issue and understandably so as to the reasoning to clearing the trees. But the park is still beautiful and one of the city's gems in our park system.Written November 25, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - acedaughterBeverly Hills, MI1,091 contributionsWe started on our bikes in Coleman. Read the sign by the big sun sculpture and started down the trail. Before long, my husband told me I had just blown by Mercury, Venus and Earth -- they were much closer that I imagined! But it's 5.5+ miles to reach Pluto. Amazed and delighted!Written September 8, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Cynthia WFreeland, MI764 contributionsBoat launch, flush toilets, Farmers' market location, splash pad, walking area, play ground, dog run park, bike trails, skate board park. This is a great are to spend a family afternoon. You can even fish from the bank. 1 block away is a great pizza place for a meal. There is adequate parking, but on Farmers Market days, the parking is limited. You can just come here and enjoy yourself. Enjoy.Written September 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
