- Hal157Boston, MA11 contributionsWe took a guided tour of this small museum in Waltham. It's a fascinating place which not only provides an overview of the many industries that called Waltham home, but also gives an overview of the beginnings of the industrial revolution in the United States. The tour guides were excellent, and very knowledgeable of the displays. The admission price is most reasonable, and although the Museum has no parking lot, a city parking garage is nearby and you can park all day for $6. As an added bonus, the Museum is within easy walking distance of a large number of great restaurants. A very informational and fun visit.Written March 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- drtr95waltham, ma16 contributionsBroadway quality with pros and locals at local high school. Classic musicals, and some not done as often. Not to mention Lizzys ice cream available at intermission.Written February 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sgrdn3Ithaca, NY56 contributionsGem, of a park close to town. Lots of trails and the ridge trail affords great views of the area including downtown Boston.Written January 6, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Traci FFremont, CA7 contributionsIt is beautifully peaceful at the estate. When you park, there is a short walk to the house and sweeping lawn. There are numerous wooded hiking trails that looked like they would be wonderful to explore. We mainly went there to view the outside of the house which is beautiful (need an appt to see the inside). Some people were there sitting on benches or blankets just enjoying the quiet and view. There were no restroom facilities.Written June 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ROTIPTilton, NH240 contributionsBe sure to take the guided tour of the mansion. The guide is extremely knowledgable about the building and the family history. Since the owners died with no descendants, all of there possessions were auctioned off or given away. As a result, very few of the contents of the building are original. The museum staff is slowly bringing the mansion back to glory. Ask to see the carriage house, it has been painstakingly restored but is not on the standard tour. There isn't much to see on the grounds but it's nice to have the solitude right in the heart of Waltham.Written April 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - linda mMilton, MA21 contributionsAnd of course I spent too much! But I took home several lovely ferns, a calathea, peperomia, jasmine loaded with buds, and a sweet little dendrobium orchid. This was the nicest selection I've seen since the old days of Edgar's in Belmont, and certainly no longer seen at the Boston Flower Show, alas. And a quality mail-order greenhouse can only send smaller specimens.Written February 25, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marcia LWeston, United States56 contributionsThis is a one room museum that contain the collection of telephones, telephone equipment, and displays that provide an educational journey through the development of the telephone. We spent 1 1/2 hours with the exhibits and detailed explanations of the collector who created this amazing treat for inquiring individuals. It is a great place for children, youth, and adults - a fabulous place to take scouts and school groups, as well as singles, couples and families young and and so young. No entry fee; contributions to the museum are accepted.Written March 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rspillBoxford, MA146 contributionsThe Rose Art Museum is located on the campus of Brandeis University. We found the Rose to be a compact, well-curated, collection of artwork. We went to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit, which we felt was a nicely presented assortment of art that traced Kahlo's life and how her experiences influsenced her work. The Riose did an excellent job of presnting this special exhibit. One floor of the Rose was closed for construction, so we didn't see the whole museum. But we very much enjoyed the visit, and found the employees very helpful.Written November 13, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert WWaltham, MA31 contributionsThis new brewery has popped onto the scene quickly and it's entirely because their selection of beers is vast and most are quite excellent. There's free parking and you can eat inside or out.
People who up with their kids and their dogs. It's low-key. The food is so-so, and most of it is prepackaged (e.g. guacamole, and the chips arrive in a sealed bag). But you meet some interesting people, and they all love good beer.Written July 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But you have to know how to use them and prepare before you arrive. Also understand all the rules and regulations which they fully enforce. No pens!
Also there is nothing to do in the immediate area for other family members who are not interested so don’t bring them along, either adult or childWritten September 14, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The staff was very helpful without being pushy. If you like mid-century furnishings, it is a fun place to shop.Written March 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WDLDBoston, MA52 contributionsOnce a year Waltham Mills Artist Association (Waltham Mills Open Studios) opens its doors to the public. These local Artist’s, who work in their own open air studio, allow the community to enter their creative world, as they engage with people, and agree to sell their most prized pieces of art.
I found this art showing to be a wonderful opportunity for someone to quietly browse the many levels of works within the massive buildings, and pick up some fine pieces to take home.
I was truly taken back at how humble and kind each Artist was. While hosting their individual showings, the Artist’s answered questions, and engaged with the many members of the community who passed through their personal space.
This year’s showing was on November 3rd & 4th.
If you are interested in attending the annual showing, google search their website and sign up for their email. It is referred to as “Waltham Mills Open Studios”, and I believe Waltham Mills Artist Association (WMAA) runs it.
This was was my first time attending, and I will definitely go back next year!
