Magic shows, especially close-up magic shows, are one of my favorite things in the world and I've seen quite a few of them.

Miracles & Other Deceptions: The Close Up Magic of Paul Gertner Boston 8.8 mi away
#2 of 56 Concerts & Shows in Boston
Having the opportunity to see a TV star live was a unique opportunity and a true hidden gem of the Boston theatre scene.
Unusual opportunity to watch slight of hand master Paul Gertner perform his magic in an up close, small setting instead of a big theater.

Built in 1914, Somerville Theatre is at the heart of Davis Square and offers first run movies along with draft beer and ice cream.

Some of the theaters are a little small, but the staff are friendly, the ambiance is great, and you can get popcorn with real butter and afterwards enjoy excellent ice cream at the Capitol Theater creamery.

It might be useful for people to know that the Charles Playhouse is home to the Blue Man Group in the big theater, as well as Shear Madness in a little theater.

Extremely good performers with varied programs with visiting artists, theme nights like swing or movie night and famous Xmas holiday concerts, performed outdoors in late spring through July 4th too.
July 3rd--Go to the Rehearsal Concert, Aim to sit in The Oval Overall--separating the concert experience from the fireworks experience was the smartest thing we did for our holiday.

We saw The Christmas Revels there and I think the theater itself, which was built specifically for acoustic performances in 1875, was a main part of the phenomenal experience.

Wang Theater Boston 9.2 mi away

They enthusiastically took photos throughout the theater and being able to see the scope of the stage and the wings from a performer's perspective was definitely a special treat.
I love theatre so I’m biased, however movie buffs may enjoy as well since scenes from Ghostbusters, Witches of Eastwick, and American Hustle were all filmed there.
