Despite rain and over 30 mph winds and the switch from Pilgrim Belle to Tails of the Sea, we had a boat!! Captain John captained the boat at dock and everyone had a great time at the pre-wedding event for our daughter and her fiancé! Jaime from Captain John Boats was patient and helpful throughout planning the event - right up to the last minute change! Karen, the bartender was excellent!

Excellent experience! Our family loved the whales. Lindsay Hirt is the senior naturalist who led our tour. She translated the science into layman’s terms to increase our appreciation of humpback families and behaviors. Also, we had a responsible pilot who did not stock the whales but still gave us a good view of them. We’ll be back! Keep your eye on the horizon and be sure to bring a warm jacket.

My son had the most amazing experience. A really involved Captain and First-Mate making his experience even that more enjoyable. He was able to catch fish all (3) days during the summer fishing camp and even more excited to cook and eat it when he came home. If you have the opportunity to engage in an experience with Plymouth Fishing Charters, be sure to take advantage.

Myself and a couple of my friends wanted to paddle board and we had been talking about it for a few summers until finally we bit the bullet and organized to do it this summer. My friend saw Roger's Wicked Fun Tours on Facebook while doing some research to find where we could go and comparing different companies and costs to rent paddles and paddle boards. We decided on Roger's because the cost to teach us how to paddle board and the rentals was just $20 an hour (paddle board and paddles included) and we couldn't find another company that was cheaper. We got there a half an hour before our actual hour rental and were immediately introduced to John or Jack (I'm sorry I don't remember his name exactly) but he was really nice. We filled out the required forms and got our life jackets on. Roger, the owner, arrived shortly and he actually was our instructor. He was great about advising what the different board types (sizing of board, weight of a person can depend on which board size is best to use, which board is best based on skill level, etc.). He also gave us tips on how to fall off the board, how to get back on, how to paddle, etc. And then he was out on the pond with us, patiently giving advice on where to out our feet, how to turn, etc. It was just such a great experience all around. So then once he saw that my 2 friends and I seemed to be getting the hang of it, he let us go on our own around the pond. It was so much fun! Can't wait to go again soon if not next summer! I definitely recommend using Roger's Wicked Fun Tours for your paddle boarding or kayaking adventures!

Had an amazing time! Capt. Matt was so kind and calm. He is very knowledgeable! He knew exactly where to go and how to catch the fish. We caught good size strippers and had an excellent time fishing with all most non- stop action!! Thank you so much! Looking forward to next time with Fishy Business Sportfishing!

Two years ago I fished with Captain Tyler on Flatliner Charters, we left the dock at 6 AM, did not get a good bite until around 4:45, and got back to the dock around 6:30. Tyler said all day that you were going to bust his ass to make sure we caught a tuna that day. I was impressed and trusted him.
I fished with Captain Tyler this past Friday (9/27) and was very disappointed in our trip. Based upon the weather, I scheduled a trip when it was believed there was a weather window. I drove up from Virginia, 12 hours, picked my brother up from Philadelphia. Right before I got to Philadelphia, in a text message, Tyler informed me he wanted to meet us at a boat ramp in Fairhaven, MA. In a phone conversation later, he said we were fishing SE of Block Island as that was the only game in town.
Seeing that Fairhaven was far away from Block Island, I requested to meet Tyler at a boat ramp in Rhode Island as that would probably only be a 40 minute ride to the fishing grounds and it would be 2 hours closer to us in driving. Tyler stated he could not land your boat in a boat ramp in Rhode Island as he did not have a permit from Rhode Island, that a permit was required for Massachusetts Charter Boat Captains, that he had missed getting the permit.
Tyler also stated that it was only 40 miles to the fishing grounds, when it was actually 60 nautical miles. This was verified online and also my brother saw it on your GPS map while on the boat.
Tyler also claimed that Fairhaven was the closest boat ramp to Block Island in MA. In doing a quick check, there are several salt water boat ramps in Massachusetts to the south of Fairhaven, MA.
If we left from a boat ramp in Rhode Island, we could have been much closer to the fishing grounds and been there close to first light, which is normally better to achieve a bite. It would have also saved us 2 hours each way driving to get there.
We arrived on the fishing grounds around 8:30, there were about 40 to 50 boats there. We marked tuna and jigged till about 12 with no hits. The entire morning, Tyler said that this was the only game in town. Around noon, the tide was starting to change. Tyler decided to leave the Gully, not waiting for the change of tide and started looking around the wind mills, where we saw some bait fish. IMO, we should have waited at the Gully where we marked tuna and see if the bite started. The alternative was simply searching, which IMO is a very low probability and as Tyler stated, the Gully was the only game in town. Tyler drove straight back to the dock, which we were there before 3. This meant we were driving to and from the fishing grounds for over 5 hours, only fished for about 3-3.5 hours.
I should have pushed more to leave from or closer to Rhode Island to get there sooner and insisted on staying through the tide change if that was the only game in town. I should also had requested information on the boat ramp and fishing grounds before I left home so that I could have researched the trip, and made an informed decision. Alternatively, IMO, I should have just cancelled if I knew I was primarily just going for a boat ride.....
