Swallow Falls is a beautiful park with easy access and good parking and offers hiking trails through mountain forests and along a beautiful river with stunning falls.
Within the park is Muddy Falls where Thomas Edison camped in 1918 and 1921 with Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and John Burroughs....must have been quite interesting topics of conversation.
Deep Creek Lake State Park

Great beach, campground has reasonable privacy and distance between sites along with well maintained bathhouses, some good hiking trails, and a well planned "Discovery Center" all add to this park.
1800 acres of beautiful nature in the Allegheny Highlands The park has hiking trails and a an adjoining man mage lake in the Deep Creek Lake Natural resources management Area.
Herrington Manor State Park

Visited Herrington Manor State Park and enjoyed an afternoon hiking on the well maintained trails.
This state park boasts 20+ cabins for rent, a beach that has well trained lifeguards, excellent picnic facilities and a good boat ramp.
