During our visit, there were excellent Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper exhibits. Of course, there was also much more to see. The shop was located on the lower level near an entry to the street--making it convenient if you only wish to visit the shop.

The museum is well-laid out and easy to move from one level to another. The range of art will satisfy any visitor seeking examples of favorite forms of art.

Every staff person we met was happy to answer questions and to explain portions of the collections. A woman in the shop was especially helpful and found an example of what we were seeking.

After having lived in Maine for 30 years, a friend said to me, "What? You've never walked the Rockland Breakwater?"
Now, I am visiting as a tourist and walked it with my adult son.
The experience is the walk. Yes, it's tricky. We were fortunate to have a clear, sunny, warm day with little wind.
You have to watch your step. You should wear good walking shoes and be somewhat agile with good balance.
If you're a walker or hiker and appreciate the journey, you'll love it.

A good way to learn about lighthouses in general. Many good displays and exhibits here about the lights themselves, the lighthouse keepers and the history of them. There is a small fee then you look at your own pace. There is a small gift shop attached as well. Parking was difficult and we ended up parking two blocks up the street and walking down. Plenty of restaurants and shops that are also in the immediate area

This was a fascinating museum, full of remarkable information and displays. You can have a guided electronic tour of the museum that helps navigate not only the space and the multitude of artifacts, but some of the history of ships. (Without that video, the museum might have been overwhelming because there is so much to see, and you definitely would not appreciate some of the artifacts without the narration explaining it.) Definitely worth the time to visit!

This is a great experience in Rockland. It is very informative and not overwhelming. There are posters on the walls to learn more about the plight of puffins and the progress that has been made, as well as a very short video that you can watch. It is well worth the time.

Always reliable and often amazing. We have had such wonderful halibut, bluefin tuna and swordfish this summer from Jess's. Recently I was about to enter Jess's when a car drove up and a young woman got out and started dancing under the sign for the market. It turns out her name is Jess and she wanted a photo with the sign. A guy then holding the front door open said "you have double the luck today - this is one of the best fish markets on the East Coast." I couldn't agree more. They have a great selection of oysters along with steamers and delicious mussels and great fish from many locations, especially caught locally.

I agree with other reviews. The staff very helpful and pleasant..the trip to Vinalhaven is stunning. We usually stay a week most years and really look forward to it. By Thursday we are so relaced, however the goodness of the week is undone by the Friday 5 AM stress of getting ( or not getting) a line number for the Saturday ferry. I believe this craziness could be eliminated by securing a return reservation when u purchase your ticket to go o er to Vinalhaven. Repeatedly I have been unsuccessful getting a return reservation via phone attempt. One of my party works on Sunday..so to be told.we.cannot get car and all of us off on Saturday is a disaster. Only way to get home in good time is to go standby on Friday to get your car across and parked. Then u walk on to ferry Saturday..if u are lucky enough to get a ride to the ferry. There is a.simple.solution

Let us get return reservatoon when we purchase ticmket to go to VH.

I made a trip to Maine partly for the festival. The lobster did not disappoint. It was also great that there was no entrance fee, as the festival was small and one could budget at most a day for it. As many other reviewers had mentioned, the surrounding communities were charming and were worth visiting as well.

Lots of imformative displays and fun learning stations for kids of all ages to enjoy. Grandson had his 4th birthday here and many of his guests had never been there. They enjoyed it immensely and said they'd be back.

Not kidding but this is the best museum in Maine. An expertly curated gem of local art. Highly recommend.

Recently relocated to 37 Bay View St, Camden, ME. Beautiful gallery with beautiful works - paintings, sculptures, and jewelry. The gallery stands out for me because its exquisite selection of works and attention to detail in displaying these works.

Great salty air. Birds (ducks, seagulls). Water, the movement of the water. Wind. Take a walkabout - bigger than first appears
