- Donna AVernon Rockville, CT50 contributionsWhat a wonderful gem. If you want to walk along the waterfront or across the mouth of the river, it’s great. If you want to look at boats, sit on a big swing, or in comfy wooden chairs, it’s great. Get a snack or a lobster roll at “On a Roll”, or ice cream at “Wild Cow Creamery.” You can get craft beer, full lunch or stop at the cannabis shop, all along the waterfront walkway. Wonderful. Must do when in Belfast.Written September 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Donna AVernon Rockville, CT50 contributionsWhat a lovely park. You can drive to the end and walk on the rocky beach at low tide. You can walk the paths. I think I saw basketball and tennis courts. Lots of picnic spots and places to let the kids run.Written September 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Donna AVernon Rockville, CT50 contributionsIt started as a cool and overcast morning, but once the sun broke through it was warmer than I had planned. I started at the Train Station and walked to the pedestrian bridge, and back again. There was a lot of early autumn flowers blooming, especially golden rod and jewel weed. I stopped often to find ripe jewel weed seeds that explode when you touch them. It’s a small thrill, but so much fun. The pod turns into little curls when the seeds explode. The trail is well kept and moderately traveled. Two negatives: purple dog poop bags tossed over the edge of the trail. I saw several. Shame on dog owners. They were not left for return trip pick up, they were tossed well off the trail. Negative #2: bikers zooming past you, coming from behind without any alert. One made me almost fall over. They also tend to ride side by side, forcing walker to the grass beside the trail. A little courtesy goes a long way. One biker did call an alert and I thanked her.Written September 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - QuoVadisMaineAthens, Maine171 contributionsWe took our 6 year old grandson on this train ride for his birthday. We had a wonderful time. We got to the station an hour early but because we did, we met Mike the Conductor; and when he heard we were celebrating our grandson’s birthday and that he had never been on a train before, he invited us to see the locomotive and even let our grandson sit in the engineer’s seat. Mike was very knowledgeable and has a long family history with trains/railroads. Throughout the train ride, he was always available to talk to and ask questions to.
The ride itself was one hour…just long enough for an energetic 6 year old. We all had a great time.Written October 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Donna AVernon Rockville, CT50 contributionsWhat a wonderful shop! I stopped in on a cloudy Saturday just after noon. There were two lovely locals working on their crafts and offering conversation and information with pleasant smiles. Danger! If you are shopping for a gift for someone, you are likely to buy something for yourself, too! The prices are fair and the quality is impressive. I will add this to my “must stop here” list.Written September 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- william bEasthampton MA299 contributionsWhen one travels one must stop at all of the local museums. Sometimes the museums are just a collection in one small room. The donations supported ($5.00) Belfast Museum is filled with historical events and documents in three amazing rooms. Also next door is a "barn"(a large connecting building" with a myriad collection of items). There is also a reconstructed jail cell - and again local amazing facts. The docent is fully knowledgeable about Belfast, Maine and the history of Belfast dating about the the early ship building craft.
Take your time - ask questions - read all of the signs and posters, ask questions, gain knowledge. Remember the only history you do not know - is the history you have not yet read.Written August 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We also had a great lunch at The Nautilus. Brown Bread pudding dessert was insanely good! Our waitress was awesome.Written October 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Antique shops give one a real insight into the people who lived in a certain community. The shop is spotless. We found so many different lamp shades and a large number of lamp bases. The items are truly period, reasonably priced and available for shipping (I think). Well worth a 15 to 20 minute stop if you are looking for those special items for your home.Written August 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - franbrunnGriffin, GA6 contributionsA wonderful experience of glass blowing with Jessica. This was my first experience with this activity and she was a great teacher. She helped me to make a beautiful pumpkin which will be a treasured reminder of this trip to Maine. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone.Written October 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alicia dIthaca, NY111 contributionsAll the vendors at this market have exceptionally high quality products. The food is all local and top notch, the art work and other non-food items are all first rate. How does such a small city have so many talented farmers and artists?! Most of the customers seemed to be locals and most people knew each other, it's a friendly community where people ask after each other's family by name. We spent much more than we intended on the lovely produce, cheese, and some art, but regret none of those purchases - I'd be here every Friday if I lived here!Written October 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mcobbmeFairfield, Maine98 contributionsGreat beer selection and the views of the harbor are good. Be warned though - the grapefruit soda listed on the menu is actually a Polar Seltzer. Pretzel with cheese dipping sauce was delicious.Written July 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
