- NemoTravelerAarhus, Denmark576 contributionsThis former plantation is located in what is today downtown Houma. The main building is presently under repair, but the gift shop is open and mini tours are available, so we decided to give it a go.
We were greeted by the very friendly and helpful lady at the gift shop, giving us a good introduction to the plantation where indigo and sugar were grown. The history of the property is quite fascinating and during our visit we also had a nice talk with the Director.

Restaurants, hotels, hospitals, shoppin, ect. - Tereasa S2 contributionsLoved the trail! Very short walk with lots of critters to see. HOWEVER.....the bugs and flies were out of control!!!! Would suggest everything be covered and have face netting as well if you are venturing on this trail. One of the locals said NOT to wear bug repellent because it attracts them. The historical plaque on the outside helped enrich my knowledge of Belle Alliance, LA. They opened up the parking area that had water and electric hookups. We were treated very well. Great central location. The center was very nice. If you love good puzzles definitely check out these rooms they are written very well! My family and friends love coming here and we have a great time every time we come! 10/10 would recommend! Wish the live music had been cajun but good time had anyhow. Food nothing to write home about, but I did get my cajun certificate. The trip in a boat accommodating about ten people is very instructive and full of stories.
The highlight of the show, Mark regularly stops the boat to call his reptile friends by their names... And it works! They are rushing to the boat!
