This trail has numerous wooden bridges, incredible views, a prairie that has a cell phone guided tour by the rest stops AND in the fall a prairie Maze!!
We tent camp and love the fact that sites are so well separated by green space, yet also have very nice concrete pads for campers, well maintained vinyl-clad picnic tables, and firepits.

There is an incredible hiking and biking trail that connects to the Grays Lake Park Trail making it possible to travel from the lake to nearby downtown Des Moines or from the downtown area to the lake.
