- 1957Ottawa, Canada644 contributionsWe stopped here, part of our tour , in the southwest Iceland to view this breathtaking waterfall. The water falls in the Hvita River fed by Langjokull glacier plunges in the rocky canyon where we saw such a beautiful rainbow, most memorable. It’s a short walk to the viewing plateform, there is also another short walk with stairs, path which can be slippery to view down the waterfall.Written May 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dr Malik Saeed67 contributionsThe view of the water fall is breath taking. It has a very easy access to the 60m height water fall. Though the more adventurous can climb the 527 steps to reach the top, for a different view, but the frontal view is the bestWritten May 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnthonyLuxembourg City, Luxembourg180 contributionsBeautiful and impressive waterfall.
But don't stop here, go to Gljufrabui, at the end of the pathway.
If visiting the whole site, you might spend 45min to 1h.Written May 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A sight to behold - really otherworldly. This National Park is really beautiful and well worth the visit. Take the short walk to the Oxararfoss waterfall. It’s worth it - especially before you go and see the mighty Gulfoss waterfall.Written May 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hannelore HUnited Kingdom245 contributionsThe best way to explore the main Icelandic nature wonders in a short period of time. Yuu don't need to book any guided tours, just having a rental car is sufficient. COuld do it in one long day or more comfortably break it down into two.Written April 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - never_ending_adventureWorthing, UK70 contributionsAwesome place to go, a great cafe at the entrance and then the beach is quality, have to be safety conscious and there are plenty of signs telling you that as the sea is violent but it's such a cool locationWritten May 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnthonyLuxembourg City, Luxembourg180 contributionsAlways impressive to see a geyser erupt, even with wind and rain.
Don't go after you've seen 1 eruption, stay and you can see a couple of them in 10/15 min. They change in height/strength.
You can also get closer or get a better spot as the people will usually leave after seing 1 eruption.
Unfortunately, Strokkur is not as impressive as Geysir was 10y ago.Written May 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, I would not be in my absolute must in Iceland. Stop here if it's on your way to some other place.
Be careful. We where there mid May, around
6pm, the sneaker waves did arrive to the bottom of the rock formations.Written May 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is also a bird nesting area so you may see a puffin at the right time (we did not) but therefore some parts are closed in the evening for breeding season.
Couple of short walking trails and views of the rock formations.
Road can be flooded/blocked at some times so check.Written May 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It will take you less than 40 minutes to do round trip walk up and back.Written May 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - travellingpixieAdelaide, Australia356 contributionsVisited as part of a tour. Only had time to walk to the viewing platform which was maybe 15min each way, fairly easy walk.
You are not meant to go past the view point without a guide for safety reasons however still a great view.Written May 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We went on a particularly windy day but it didn't deter us the walk is mostly uphill on the way but the route has easy to follow gravel paths. Lots of great views on the way so you can stop for a photo opportunity (break :)) along the way.
The spring is easy to get in and out of and feels like a bath.Written May 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The fact that you can stand right next to it and feel it pouring down is fantastic and quite unique from all the waterfalls we did in Iceland.

The thing is that I am disabled and have difficulty walking so ths was a great experience for me to get that close to fly my drone and get to take photos of the bluest water fall in Iceland. Thank you guys for making that road.Written May 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
