Dynjandi (Fjallfoss)

Hrafnseyri 43.7 mi away
#1 of 1 Nature & Parks in Hrafnseyri
A beautiful series of falls culminating in the huge Dynjandi, all easily accessible from a car park at the foot and with an excellent view of the fjord as well.
If you’re driving past you can’t miss it and if you’re going to the Latrabjarg cliffs it will require a 90-minute drive (45 min each way) along gravel roads through more stunning scenery.

It’s beautiful as parts of it are frozen in the wintertime but yet with powerfull parts that still go jetting across with beautiful canyons in the distance.
The scenery is beutiful and it is fantastic to just stay here to enjoy the beauty of nature.

From the parking lot you take the path that leads to the viewing deck, and there you can descend via a steep slope to the beach if weather permits it.
A bit out of the way on a gravel road and it does involve a bit of a hike to a good viewpoint.

The gift shop has an excellent assortment of souvenirs.

Drangey Island

It is well worth the price because you get an exhilarating boat ride to and from the island, an exciting hike up the steep cliffs to the top, have a rest stop with hot drinks, see thousands of puffins and other bi...
Puffins were zooming all around us, with many more perched on the cliff edges, and we had plenty of time to relax, enjoy the scenery - just such a beautiful island - and admire the birds.

If you want to see a geothermal site that still is in natural condition without too much intrution of man (there were pathways to walk along and some signs to explain the wonders) this must be the Place.
Rooms are available, but we bounced and shook along the road back to Selfoss, with a stop again at Gulfoss shop and cafe.

Once you cross the bridge, the walking paths are very nice, we have seen all kinds of mushrooms , flowers & birds.
You can park right where the path to the bridge starts - don’t trust google maps, it wants you to park somewhere else.

If you're making the trek just for the fort you'll likely be disappointed.
