- Kate Illinois1Illinois4,861 contributionsWe enjoyed our visit. Besides learning about military equipment manufactured over the years, we learned about specific ones made here on the island. Also during our recent pandemic, they were manufacturing face shields and ventilator boxes. Wheelchair accessible. Ample parking.Written July 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PowerTrippersCocoa Beach, FL1,518 contributionsThis isn’t a large botanical center as it only took us about 45 minutes to see everything. Despite the smaller size, the botanical center was interesting. It contained some interesting exhibits and was pretty well laid out. My wife especially enjoyed it and took lots of photos.
We didn’t see anything here that was particularly unusual, but it was still a nice way to spend part of a day.

My father's namesake was interned as a Confederate POW at Rock Island's POW Camp 1863-1865. Fascinating to explore the Confederate cemetary, the National Cemetary, and the area of the old POW camp. The Arsenal buildings are a treasure of architecture along a stretch of the Mississippi River.Written July 22, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kate Illinois1Illinois4,861 contributionsAtomic Cannon is located in Memorial Field at Rock Island Arsenal. Besides the atomic cannon, there are many other tanks, cannons, and missiles on display. Each with an information plaque. It was interesting learning about all the pieces of equipment. The Atomic Cannon is huge. We parked on the gravel easement along the road.Written July 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- iacomanche59Altoona, IA20 contributionsThis was very interesting to find a place that had American Indian artifacts and information about the Sauk Tribe. It was a nice older building that was built in 1939. And it was cool learning about the CCC history as well. This building wouldn’t be there if this program wasn’t available back then.Written July 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IralgoSevierville, TN1,151 contributionsWent to lock #16 and had a fantastic tour. This is the first lock built on the Mississippi River. The tour is free and very informative. Interesting to see a boat with many barges going through the canal and the opening of the bridge. Highly recommend. - Cosette TDavenport, IA37 contributionsThe park is right on the Mississippi River and has a great bike/run path plus plenty of parking and the addition of well maintained bathrooms make it the ideal spot to start and end a long run or bike ride. There is also a play area and picnic area, so it's great for family gatherings as well.Written January 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ALLSLCSalt Lake City, UT508 contributionsIt was raining cats and dogs and we couldn't find anything to do so stopped in. Minimal parking nearby but if you go out to the main road, there is on street parking that is close enough. There is a lot to see when you go in, sometimes a geology student is there to talk to you about various exhibits. Really cool fossils and minerals to check out. Could easily spend an hour or more if you like reading signs.Written September 22, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LuvToTravel0899Owatonna, MN396 contributionsThis was an unexpected gem while we were staying in Moline Illinois. The exhibit was Manuscripts by Charles Darwin. We were totally unaware that a Manuscript museum existed. As we are from Minnesota we will visit the one in Duluth. This is a rotating exhibit and when we are in the area we will return.Written October 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
