    Please note during the winter:

Accessible by snowmobiles only in the winter. From the Francis parking lot, it's 18 miles to the turnoff, turn left and then another 2 miles.

The place has a rustic cabin feel with clear water and heated changing rooms. Toilets are in another building 30' behind the changing rooms. It's an absolute treat to make snowmobile there and soak in the amazing hot spring. I stuck to the main pool closer to the smaller 2 on the left as the smaller ones are scorcher if you like it very hot. Overall, lovely experience. We're looking forward to staying there next time and snowmobile around to different food establishments as there is no food on site.

Also, you must reserve ahead of time. We went on a Sunday and only saw 20 people there for the 2 hour soak.

Payette Lake is in McCall Idaho. It’s a beautiful lake with Ponderosa State Park cutting through the middle with great hikes and beautiful scenery. There are several restaurants on the lake with great views and a lovely beach. McCall offers many nice day hikes to lakes and waterfalls. Our favorites were Boulder Lake and Goose Creek Falls. A beautiful part of t the country!

Nice trails and view of lake along the trails. Some beach access points on the peninsula trails as well. Plenty of restroom access and a nice visitor center. Good access for bike riding on the trail areas as well. Saw some camp sites being used by quite a few families. Will come again some day to do more in the area.

After a rough start to the season[very little snow in November and December]by March the conditions improved considerably, with some great powder days. The new Centennial lift has made a big difference, as well. It seems the new management is willing to spend the money to upgrade the area, where previous owners seemed reluctant to invest in needed maintenance. With all the people moving to Idaho, and the publicity Brundage has gotten, it is inevitable that the resort we've loved for many years is changing in ways we don't like, including pricier lift tickets and sometimes chaotic parking. The best we can do is to have fun and be friendly, or ski somewhere else. There are still a few small ski areas that aren't blown out.

Loved it! Parking was a bit of a struggle as were the restrooms. Opted to stay for 2 hours. The line wait was a bit frustrating due to the crowd. Once up top you were quickly riding down.

You don’t get wet, which was a plus. Everyone was very nice. Loved the fact that you could ride down with tubes connected in an island or toboggan style.

I’d suggest with lines that long get another magic carpet, extend the time frame to stay. In our two hours we only slid down 4 times.

The ice bumper cars was really fun. My son who's 5 was able to drive one himself and I did it too and we had a good time. It was $9 each for 13 mins I believe. I definitely recommend if you are in McCall with kids, plus in right in town so you can get food or drinks before or after.

Beautiful course lousy carts; Dirty and not running well. I’m sure that contributed to my partner’s frustration with his game Staff was friendly and helpful.

Legacy is a nice place to take grandchildren. It is a pleasant place on the lake to stop for a picnic or just to sit and watch the water. Parking in not a problem.

Ok market. Needs more vendors and better diversity. Would be nice to have better signage for people who don't live here.

Taking a day trip to McCall, we were looking for places to visit while in town. This is a short drive from downtown. It is open to the public and free. You can let yourself in and walk around at your leisure.

At McCall, Hwy 55 (now known as 3rd St) makes a sharp right and becomes Lake St., which runs along the south edge of Payette Lake. McCall has built right up to the water’s edge, so we were very happy to discover Rotary Park, which provides free, off street parking with lake access, grassy places to sit, and a nice public restroom/changing room. There is also a swimming beach, (no lifeguard) picnic tables with BBQ’s, and a playground. Dogs on a leash are welcome. Rotary Park is small and can get crowded quickly. It ends at Lardo Bridge, where the Payette River dumps into Payette Lake, near the Fish Hatchery.
McCall is a genuinely lovely town of less than 4,000 people, but it’s growing, due to the population shift from big cities to small towns. I really liked it there. Rotary Park is also near the turn for the Fish Hatchery. The hours are 8AM-8PM.

A couple of friends and I stumbled upon Bear Basin while in McCall. It was our first day cross country skiing for the season and we were all very rusty. Our instructor, Ian, was an incredible teacher; engaging, helpful and talented...some say his skiing brings tears to their eyes. We were all different skill sets (complete beginner, intermediate, and advanced skier who had done a long distance races before). Ian made sure that all of us left a better skier! Nobody felt bored, left behind, or discouraged. I highly recommend Ian as an instructor and Bear Basin for cross country skiing! We can’t wait to be back again! Tell Ed we sent ya!

This is a good afternoon destination for a hike. We had a pleasant walk in and a pleasant walk out. There are a lot of nice hiking trails in the McCall area, and this is one of them. I recommend it for younger children but not babies, unless you like carrying them.

We walked from downtown to visit the museum. We arrived at 3:10 to find signs proclaiming they were open until 3:30. However, all of the buildings were locked and no one was around. Guess I'll just have to discover the history of the region on Wikipedia.

After a stroll through McCall this small park on Payette Lake's edge has some benches to sit and relax on or the grassy area under the trees cools you down on a hot day. Clean restroom too! Great place to take in the views of the lake, mountains and town.
