Hands down, the very best fried apple and cherry pies I have had in all of Georgia!!! Worth the drive.
Years past I would go to the other orchards. Mercier is now my favorite.

Good hike for all ages with fun bridge over a gorgeous section of the river. Hike to bridge is a downward rocky, rooty, dirt trail. Everything you’d want on a good hike. Walking stick could be helpful. Not a very long distance before the reward of the rushing river under the swinging trail bridge. Great photo opp all along the way and by the river.

This was a very fun experience. The scenery along the way is beautiful! Our train car host Gene was terrific! He knew a lot about the history of the area we traveled through and was very entertaining! We did a little shopping win McCaysville and also had some drinks and snacks before reloading for our trip back to Blue Ridge. It's a relaxing and informative experience!!

Great waterfall hike! Hike is not too long or not too hard for a beautiful cascade of falling water. Recent rain produced a much bigger waterfall than we anticipated. A bit muddy but we went on a rainy day, so not a bad rainy day hike. Good dirt path, with rocks & roots. Would be pretty when the rhododendron are in bloom. Still gorgeous forest and stream views.

This is a quick drive from downtown Blue Ridge. The facilities are very clean and convenient. Lots of parking. Many picnic tables all in various places and well placed and shaded. The kayak rental place is awesome, little store and the employees are very helpful. The water in lake blue ridge is fantastic and clear. The swim area is well marked. The camping areas looked fabulous, next time we will camp there. My only reason for not 5 star is that they indicate on website hiking but there are not really any hiking trails. There is one trail that is maybe 0.8 miles total but that goes thru the camping area... so wish they would add more hiking trails. Anyhow it is worth for camping and / or day use for picnic and kayaking. Would return for sure.

The parking was limited and almost full. U the time we got there the morning of our visit. The trail is fairly easy but narrow and treacherous in areas due to to tree roots. Nice falls and a good experience

We stopped in today before the storm. The bartender was awesome. The outside was beautiful. The thing we didn’t like was they only had two red wines. If they had more we would have stayed longer. Love that they were dog friendly.

This is a challenging hike for beginners, but well worth the effort. We overshot the trailhead because GPS wasnt working and there was no one on the trail so no cars parked - so follow the road towards the fish hatchery (gravel and narrow, which is a little scarey when big trucks come the other way). When you get to the hairpin turn at the bridge, park before the bridge. The climb starts with a lot of brush to push through and at points you kind of lose the trail, but its there - just keep listening for the water, there are a few rapids but the falls are high enough to really make a roar. There are sections where you have to grab onto roots, parts where you climb over logs, and a few rock scrambles where its quite slippery with a steep drop below, so i would not reccomend this for small children. When you get to the falls its worth the last little scramble down to the flat rocks jutting out below. The falls and weeping rock walls above you are just gorgeous and you can feel the mist on your face! It takes about an hour roundtrip and you will get dirty - so woth it!

A pullover at the dam has a display of the entire TVA system of dams and lakes and explains the history and importance of Blue Ridge dam to TVA. It is quite interesting. The short drive is scenic and gives a different view of the lake.

We visited The Art Center in the old court house during the folk art exhibit, which we enjoyed very much. My husband and I appreciated that masks were required, and they had masks and sanitizer available for those who did not have their own. As it turned out, we were the only ones there during our visit, so it was safe, quiet, and very enjoyable!

The old court house makes for a unique setting, and they made good use of the space there for their exhibits.

Although there is no fee, a $2 donation per person is recommended. Please support the arts!

My family and I hiked this trail from the springer mountain parking lot. My daughter is 3 and my son is 6. It is a fairly steep incline the whole 1 mile to the peak where the Appalachian trail begins (or ends depending on where you start). My two kids hiked the whole way up themselves. Then, I had to carry my daughter down because she was tired. It is very rocky on the way up but this helps you keep your footing. We went on an overcast and wet day but really enjoyed it and were excited to say we hiked part of the Appalachian trail.
