- Kimberly H31 contributionsOur tour guide, Sam, the “limo” driver and all the helpers were amazing. The animals are healthy and well loved and they explain how they got them, what brought them there, and all about the species and the personality of the particular animal in front of us! You gain an incredible understanding of each animal and the endangered and rare cats, wolves and more, are riveting to watch and enjoy. It is true reserve and I highly recommend visiting!Written November 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - carey lCentral Florida, FL13 contributionsAfter hearing about the love story of the fort had to go see. Great piece of history to be seen and heard. The canon shot was fantastic. Staff was great, answered all questions. Very knowledgeable and great uniforms.Written November 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Al MakynenDuluth, MN356 contributionsWe stayed on the beach at a bed and breakfast. A very short walk over the dunes (which are growing in width and height due to conservation efforts). There is a driving lane for vehicles (you need four-wheel drive), which for us is a huge distraction from the natural beauty. The ruts are unsightly - not to mention parked vehicles. However, this does give greater access for more people to enjoy the beach. So if you want to drive out onto the beach - this area is for you. Do check the tides. High tide (near the time of a full moon) puts most of the beach - right up to the driving lane under water.Written November 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zane Wylie The Skull Carving GuySt. Augustine, FL202 contributionsWhere history’s charm is a real-life illusion!
With cells and gallows and tales so grand,
You’ll feel like you’ve traveled to a far-off land.
The guides spin stories with flair and with fun,
Of outlaws and legends, and what’s to be done.
The old-timey jail’s got its quirks and its cheer,
A whimsical trip you’ll want to reappear!
Peek through the bars and imagine the scene,
Of the wildest old tales you’ve ever seen.
In St. Augustine’s heart, where the past does play,
The Old Jail Museum will brighten your day!
So grab your hat and come take a stroll,
Through this historic site that’s good for the soul.
With laughter and history both in full view,
The Old Jail Museum’s the spot for you!Written August 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SheslakesideIndiana38 contributionsWe passed the sign for this park on the way south and decided to stop in. Knowing nothing about thé fort, we got FREE tix for the short ferry ride to the old Spanish fort and our park ranger, Steve, narrated a very dramatic history for us. I don’t remember the many details but the history goes back to 1500s, lots of fighting going on in the 1700s because many countries wanted this land which was already inhabited by the native people at the time it was « discovered" by the Spanish. The French, Brits and pirates! all wanted to own the waterway around the fort which leads to St Augustine. In the end a small number of soldiers (4-6 of them stayed in the fort for 30 days at a time) fired their cannons & kept it for the Spanish. Here it sits today with the flag of the Spanish Burgundy family flying above it. Well worth the visit! For your own safety, don’t quote me on any of this.Written September 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pat MParrish, FL283 contributionsWonderful historical place with interesting demonstrations of cannons, guns and blacksmith. We visited as a family then each ticket is $22.95 and children under 12 y/o
$9.95. It is educational and fun! It is mostly outdoor so carry water and wear a hat. Its dog friendly. The peacocks are loud so be aware of it. We recommend it.Written July 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I would recommend anyone in the area take a walk thru and visit the shrine, museum, or gift shop if you need to cool off. Don’t be scared to stop even if you’re not Catholic.Written July 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - laura sMedellin, Colombia4 contributionsIt is a special place to enjoy with the family. Good restaurants and the people are very warm. I recommend NOT using horse carriages to tour the city. I was attentive to their route and believe me, it is too much for so many people who take these horses! People are not considerate and their work time is too much just for their benefit. I recommend using tourist companies, such as bicycles that are super fun. Do not mistreat animals, more awareness and empathy, Thank you for reading me.Written August 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mustanggrl861 contributionMolly and Uncle Vince were absolutely amazing and the sweetest and nicest people throughout the whole tour experience. They were very accommodating ! They showed us everything from the oldest and the first bicycle to all the earliest medicine from back in the 1800s. We will definitely be going again!!!Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
