What travelers are saying
- Rex A S93 contributionsOn Friday, September 13, 2024, we visited the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala, Florida.
Highly recommend you stop by this easy to find, easy parking, reasonable admission fee museum. Tons of cars, several trucks, a few motorcycles, numerous interesting oddities that round out the visit. Plan on three or more hours in the two very clean building. The first building is primarily dragsters with plenty of the Swamp Rat’s own cars and plenty more from racing history.
The second building contains a wide variety of cars from the opening era of automobiles into the more recent cars such as an anniversary Chevrolet Corvette.
This is one of the top museums we have visited and very top museum for drag racing and drag racing history.
Well worth the stop. Entry, reentry, and movement between the museums is easy so maybe bring a picnic and take a break during your visit.
If your youngsters ooh and aah at mechanical things and cars they will love the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing.
Thanks,

I highly recommend booking the kayak tour as we saw many monkeys and manatees from very close by.Written October 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Much of the collection was from a Chicagoan that ran an electric company. Very nice diverse collection that was well displayed. Enjoyed the museum a lot - and very friendly and helpful staff.Written September 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NinecatPinecrest, FL33 contributionsIt was a misty cold rainy day! We went by the trails and Santos Bike Shop across from the trail rented us great bikes with helmets and provided us with information on the level of the trails. Due to the wet conditions we took the paved one. Other people went mountain biking and loved it as well! We biked in a shaded trail for 15 miles, it was a great time!Written February 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Grace09victoriaFort Lauderdale, FL46 contributionsGreat spot for families. We went on a Wednesday and got there mid morning, there was barely anyone swimming. Lots of picnic tables and places to hang a hammock. We took one do the trails to go see the other spring (about a 10 minute walk). We left around lunch time and by that point there were only a few more families swimming. The water is cold, so be ready to jump in!
The only down side is the admission price, for 2 adults and a toddler we paid $20. It’s a buck or two cheaper on weekdays.Written July 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Katya is easily the best restaurant in Ocala. Many choices you do not find elsewhere
such as octopus marinated and grilled. Heaven. Sea bass is my favorite but they also have high end steaks [ Wagu ] . pasta, short ribs, and a great selection of wines and full bar. I also love their special flat breads for a starter. Not cheap but perfect for special occasions and the service by the owners are very attentive..
