What travelers are saying
- Laurel BTipp City, OH779 contributionsThe beaches of Sanibel and Captiva were still closed due to Hurricane Ian w hen we visited, but we marveled at the huge, powerful, beautiful waves we saw from the road. We did some great shopping on the island. We bought shirts, shorts, and shoes from very friendly, welcominfg businesses. The resiliency of the population there is inspiring.Written January 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laurel BTipp City, OH779 contributionsThis is a magnificent scene. The huge waves come in crashing against the black rocks. It makes you realize the power of the ocean.Written January 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- mama_kenyonBelton, TX185 contributionsWe stopped for a quick peak inside this gorgeous chapel. Such a nice location to worship our Creator. Make sure to also visit the cemetery next to the chapel.Written July 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barbara R.Steamboat Springs, CO12 contributionsPerfect spot for sunrise views and fishing, dolphin play in the pass, just a great place of nature adoration.Written November 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barry and Nicol... GReading, UK988 contributionsMy wife and I always pop into this gorgeous gallery while on vacation from the UK. We have 4 paintings proudly hanging on our walls at home and many other pieces of handmade pottery, jewellery and ornaments. We always find something beautiful to buy and usually its ones of the artists working in the shop whose items you are buying. Support your local shops and artisans as they are the life blood of any community.Written February 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John NAnn Arbor, MI120 contributionsIf you need a break from walking the beaches, shelling, biking, shopping, fishing or motor boats... give Captain Mick a call and enjoy a sail. Everyone must experience being on a sailboat in their lifetime and I can't think of a better location to to it than off the docks of Captiva. Heading out into the bay for a few hours was a relaxing, beautiful, calming time. Mick definitely will put you to work if you want, that was fun for our crew for sure. Raising the sails, reefing the main, steering the boat were just some of our duties. Yes the boat if on the worn side but that didn't detract from enjoying the peace you feel with the wind in the sails and hearing nothing else. We brought snacks along and had fun talking shop with Captain Mick. I would highly recommend this trip for a fun change of pace with friends or family.Written March 7, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OxieSugar Grove, IL33 contributionsThis is a small, compact museum inside the library on Captiva.
It does not take long to learn a lot of the history of this little island community - very interesting and worth the stop. It is adjacent to the original cemetery and Chapel-by-the-Sea. Both of these are worth a stop to learn even more of the history of Captiva.Written February 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They showed me a quick way to download e-books from the library site, which was hugely helpful to me. The historic displays are lovely. Great location by the historical cemetery and the Chapel-by-the-Sea.Written May 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Flip-flops in ColoradoColorado78 contributions$40 to park is just too much. Beautiful area but with only a portapotty and no other amenities (like a shower), the parking cost is just too much. Too many other good choices of beaches on Captiva and Sanibel.Written July 13, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DrewBVASaint Louis, MO134 contributionsRented fishing rods from Jensen’s. Tony was very helpful in recommending tackle/bait and suggesting places to fish. If you’re looking for rental rods or tackle, I’d recommend going to Jensen’s and talking with Tony. Prices seemed reasonable, too.Written June 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- thill2003Punta Gorda, FL24 contributionsMy teenage daughters & I have awesome mani/pedis here. Tayla was amazing! She listened to my girls & did exactly what they wanted as far as nail art & such. She was wonderful & so attentive. We were all 3 very pleased.Written May 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B D6 contributionsFantastic 6 day live aboard a 47 ft. Jeanneau out of Tampa, St. Pete. Amazing experience for 3 of us intermediate sailors. Our instructor Andrew is a saint, with endless knowlege of sailing, boating, weather and everything else under the sun. His patience & ability to teach was astounding. We had a ton of laughs, learned docking, springlines, saling, hailing a drawbridge, anchoring, weather, engines, ROW, MOB, the list goes on. I literally cannot wait to sign up for another experience with Offshore.Written November 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael SSioux Falls, SD133 contributionsThis is a cool little restaurant with a view of the ocean. The food was good. The service was good. I would go back again. The close the restaurant for a couple of hours in the afternoon for some reason... siesta? Evidently other restaurants on the island do the same thing. But if you don't know they close the kitchen at 3 p.m. you can make a wasted trip.Written January 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CindyMcCainNashville, TN74 contributionsLoved, Loved, Loved the cool early morning class I did on the Kings Crown Lawn at South Seas Island Resort. The instructor was wonderful. I LOVED doing sun salutations as bunnies bopped in and out of the bushes behind us and boats bobbed by. Ambu Yoga was the best way to start the day and warmed me up for kayaking with my daughter later .
