I am looking into both the Tides Inn and Plunge. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the lanai and bungalow rooms at Plunge? I am looking for direct beachfront, originally looking at Tides but their rates are higher. Any input on either resort is welcome, thank you!
Answer: Plunge has been opened for approximately 2 years. It was formerly a Howard Johnson's and went through a complete renovation. I've never stayed at Plunge, but from what I do know about the resort, there are 3 buildings. The Island Building is across the street from the beach and I believe there are only hotel style rooms it's about 5 floors. The Beach Building is on the beach it's about 5 floors as well and again only hotel style rooms. The Bungalow Building is also on the beach and is was an old style motel (Captain's Quarters) and renovated as well. Some of the rooms in the Bungalow Building have kitchenettes, I think the Junior Suites.

The Tides is two floors it also went through a major renovation about 4 years ago, and has a very European feel. There are 12 rooms in total, 4 efficiencies, 4 hotel style rooms, 1 ocean front efficiency, 1 one bedroom apartment and 1 ocean front penthouse suite. I have stayed here many times.

Plunge has a beach bar, that The Tides Inn doesn't have. Every room at The Tides in as an ocean view, the view from the second floor rooms is better than from the first floor. Plunge has 2 pools, The Tides has one. You might want to check if there are parking fees at Plunge. The Tides Inn doesn't charge for parking.
