If you love the ocean, and history you will enjoy this trip. We were lucky to have a calm sea. I don't think the ride would be very enjoyable in rough conditions. The Yankee Freedom crew was very informative. Overall it was a long day, but definitely worth it. We will definitely look into camping there for a day or two in the future. They supplied a breakfast and Jersey Mike's for lunch. On the trip back they opened the bar. Probably the best priced drinks in Key west.

A bit expensive, but it is Key West! Short walk-through conservation many butterfly's, a couple flamingos and few other surprises.

This is a neat spot to learn about Truman, but there is also a lot of history both before and after him that you can take in as well.

Excellent tour of a legendary coast guard ship. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and it provided a great experience for my family.

Fantastic, Never saw so much gold & silver. Very much part of keys that does not involve drinking. Would recommend.

Went to this spot to take pictures with our family members. Had to wait in about a 15 minute line. People were being polite and respectful and took each others photos. Nice picture taking spot. No bathrooms around there. Parking difficult but possible. Would recommend.

Free tour…free samples and delicious drinks! What more can you ask for?!?! Free tour of the distillery to see where the magic happens! Our guide was knowledgeable and fun while explaining the distilling process. Stop in the tasting room to sample any of the delicious rum. I love that they give you straight samples and then a mixer for some variety. They also have great recipe cards for their various rum. Bonus points that they sell nips so you can bring some of your favorites home without having to check a bag! Buy a delicious drink to carry with you on the tour or as you head out to explore the rest of this fun town!

We have been passing the Discovery Center for years waiting to find it open. It is now open Fridays and Saturdays. I'm sure they would open more if more people would visit. You can't beat the free admission! Don't forget to bring donation cash. There are plans for a digital donation option but it is not installed yet.

Unfortunately, it is a bit of a trip from Mallory Square where most people congregate. There is a break in the walkway from Mallory and it is quite a trip to get to the other side. If they could just connect the walk way it would be just a little more of a walk to get there.

We had the place to ourselves (besides Emily who was very happy to tell us all about the displays as well as plans for the future of the Center). There were a lot of interactive exhibits. As adults we found some of the reading very interesting. Kids would like touching everything. My favorite was the big map of the keys that lights up for things like lighthouses, currents, and bridges.

This may not be worth a trip all the way out just for the Discovery Center (especially if you are walking). However, it is a great stop if you are checking out that side of the pier, visiting the Coast Guard Ship (which can also be toured), or visiting Fort Zachary Taylor and the beach there.

We are hoping more people visit so they will open more. We will stop by again and would probably make it a stop every time we go the the Zachary Taylor beach as long as it is open. I also feel that there is a lot of potential to keep improving and expanding but I'm afraid that won't happen if they don't get more traffic.

Although devastated by the hurricane this free exhibit usually has gorgeous local plants. By 2023 it should be back in shape.
