Ok... that might be a bit presumptuous, but if you are over 30 and like to dress up, have fun, eat, drink, drink and get a little crazy, this party is for you. The costumes are amazing, people wear anything from a boring t-shirt to full-on transformer. Lots of body paint, pasties, masks, hats, off the shelf costumes and some amazing walking works of art. The parades happen all week, and the bars are packed. Take a small suitcase and an open mind. Pool parties are off the hook, lots of private events to get as naughty as you dare, and some of the hotels get a little clothing optional this time of year. Now the city is promoting a little more family freindly type event than maybe it has been in the past, but like anywhere public, show some respect, don't be a jerk, and use common sense and everyone has a great time. Key West is changing, for sure, like everywhere else, but we still had a blast. Do eat at Pepe's
Drink at the Schooner Wharf, and dance wherever it's loud. We ended up doing 5 seperate dives with Southpoint divers and conditions were totally different each day from strong currents to almost compeltely calm waters. The ship is MASSIVE and there is so much to see. You really can't expect to see it in just one dive. We were awestruck each time and it was the highlight of our KeyWest trip. If you're certified, DO THIS DIVE. Makes for an interesting evening with your date. - Quest154969251911 contributionThe Rooms, service and behaviour of the staffs are really amazing with a great environment and metro nearby.
Rooms are very neat and clean and the beverages will get refilled on time.
The room service is pretty excellent done by Dipin and Atanu and their behaviour is very good.
The food served is also delicious with great gym service especially for fitness freaks. - brian i1 contributionThe crew was amazing. We got out to the feeding site and right away sharks started coming to the boat. They even got the kids involved and had them help feed the sharks. Unfortunately it was cut a little short because of the rain, but they made the best of it by trying to find a new place to feed sharks. But we did see some dolphins and learned a lot about the wildlife in the area. My daughter wanted to build a Disney-inspired castle, so over the course of two hours Marianne patiently and cheerfully engaged my daughter on how to shape turrets, carve out staircases, make bricks, and tricks for windows and bridges. - Susanna SMaidstone, UK119 contributionsWe had an amazing trip to Fort Jefferson/Dry Tortugas with Key West Seaplane Adventures. We travelled with pilot John who was very informative and according to my stepson - the coolest pilot!
The flight there and back was great and we saw the shipwrecks, turtles, dolphins and more. The view of the fort on arrival is impressive. Landing on the water is really fun too.
Water and soda in a cooler are provided, along with the snorkelling gear.
We had a quick look around the fort but it was a very hot day so for most of the half day trip we concentrated on the snorkelling which was good fun and a first for my stepson. He said the seaplane trip and snorkelling were his favourite things about our trip to Florida.
The visitor centre has a few gifts and maps etc which are worth purchasing.
Yes, it's expensive but it's an impressive experience....go ahead and book it! It was a really unique way to explore the town and learn some history and fun facts, and it’s very well organized. It’s the perfect level of difficulty, perfect amount of time, fun little competition. Despite high winds we were able to stay protected by the mangroves and fully enjoy this beautiful place. Highly recommend Lazy Dog. Brian knows so much and is so very friendly. Him and Eric took amazing care of us.
We saw dolphins really up close and the snorkeling was truly amazing; we were looking for an outing respectful of the wildlife and we found it.
