We decided to visit the Fort and walk a couple trails. First, the Fort is very cool. Neither my husband or I are necessarily history buffs but we thoroughly enjoyed it. We then hit a couple little trails and headed to the beach. There was ONE other couple we encountered on the beach and the beach itself was absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of parking and restrooms on site which was an added bonus. We loved the beach so much we came back the next day. It was a little more busy then but nothing like the regular packed beach accesses around. Pay the $6 to support this great park and have the best beach access! You wont regret it!

We received a good orientation of Fernandina and Amelia Island when we stopped in here. It's an easy walk along the riverfront

A lot of interesting history of the people that lived and live on the Amelia Island. Easy to find and helpful volunteers at the location. Would go again to check out any new exhibits. Great Smithsonian watershed exhibit!!!!!

I used to love going there, I could get a permit and drive on the beach, Since COVID, unless you are a resident of the the county or military you cannot drive on the beach. It's ridiculous .

This volunteer docents are enthusiastic and dedicated. One docent explained all about three large ship models he made himself! These vessels will sail in the water! Another docent gave us lots of information about underwater archaeology and the many Spanish ship wrecks that are offshore as well as treasures already found. Another docent gave us information about Amelia Island and its shipping industry. We spend two wonderful hours here. Well worth it.

We enjoyed a drive through here twice. Lots of interesting very old headstones from 1700's. The trees are old and amazing, adding to it allure.

Fantastic park, close to town with lots of fun, hands-on activities besides the usual swings and such.

Has a very nice walking track, exercise stations, and you can get nice sunrise pics over the marsh once the sun is high enough.

It's tucked in neighborhood at a gate. Only go when open or the gate is closed to the grounds. (And open is about 3 hours a week on Sat. And tours 2x a month.) The grounds are small so it seems like it would be hard to get good photos of people AND the lighthouse together.

I purposely planned our vacation so we would be here the 2nd Saturday in May knowing that the arts and craft section would also be here.
I gVe it 5 stars even though the two booths I most wanted weren’t there. They had one last time that had large glass jars filled with dried fruits and herbs which you filled with different licquors depending on which one you got and what you were making. Last time I bought the one to make sangria and was hoping to get that again for a gift for someone’s birthday but the booth wasn’t there. I also wanted to buy preserves from Ladybug Gourmet but they weren’t there either. I looked them up and called. The owner explained that they went out of business. I explained how sorry I was as I was hoping to buy a lot for an occasion I explained to her - she said she had a lot of inventory and would bring what I wanted. She met me at the B&B we had stayed out which was so kind of her. I’m sad that a business like this had to close because of COVID. So many have failed and it’s terrible.

The older pedestrian bridge made for a lovely walk. The view was worth the long walk on the bridge passing by all the fisherman doing their thing. It was nice to see what all they were catching too.

We enjoyed so many art galleries with lots of local artists. Most galleries are located in historic buildings so enjoyed the architecture as well.

All dogs deserve a vacation day to play! I have been blessed with three dogs to visit this dog park and it’s our favorite! Visiting here since 2004 and love each visit. We like that we can rest assured it’s a safe place for our family.
