There's not a whole lot to do on the pier itself, but it is a great place for some memorable family photos, and the area around the pier is really the main attraction, with the Wyndham Deerfield Beach hotel right next door (where the family and I stayed) and lots of restaurants adjacent to it. It’s free to visit and run by the amazing volunteers of the historical society. David was our tour guide and he was great; super knowledgeable and gave us lots of info on original owners James and Alice Butler. They’re open on Saturday mornings for tours. His Divemasters are also top notch. First, everyone expected a tip.
A vendor handed me two $4.00 bottles of water. I paid with a ten and she showed me two dollars and said, "Is this for me?"
Really hilarious was that the info booth inside the front entrance had a tip jar!! For what?
Handing you a map you already paid $30 bucks for?
Another serious problem is that people were smoking all over the place. Vapes, cigarettes, cigars and a couple of times we smelled weed.
