What travelers are saying
- surfercharlieGlendive, MT1,275 contributionsI have reviewed Clearwater Beach before, but not since the devastating hurricanes that destroyed the Clearwater area last fall.
This is my favorite beach in the United States, other than Hawaii. I was anxious about visiting because of what I feared I would find and, to some degree, those fears were realized. However, they were also alleviated to some degree. I will explain....
What makes Clearwater Beach special and unique? Incredibly powdery soft sand. Extremely wide and long beach. Pier 60 with its sunset celebration that includes vendors, buskers, food and more. Incredible restaurants all around. Lots of parking. All things considered, it is within a whisper of being perfect.
My visit today was heartwrenching. The hurricanes were four months ago, but Pier 60 is heavily dsmaged and closed. Buskers came, but with less than 15 people on the beach, they left. Only 5 vendors showed up. The snack bar and gift shop were open but rarely did I see a customer wander in.
So why did I give it a 5 star review? Because the signs of rebirth are everywhere. Most of the people we saw were construction woekers. Evidence of restoration projects are everywhere. The kids carnival is open, even though we saw only one child. Clearwater is working gard to come back. And I believe they will. And the main reason? Those incredible sunsets!! The hurricanes could not destroy them. I will post pictures. Definitely worth 5 stars.Written January 29, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The room was fabulous with stunning views.
The staff were so friendly and warm we have booked for our fourth year.
The manageress, Sam and her assistant Vanessa bent over backwards.
All of their staff were friendly.
The roof bar “Jimmy’s crow’s nest was fantastic offering the most beautiful sunset ever.Written October 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are plenty of bathrooms which is always a priority. The water here is warm and beautiful. One highlight for us was seeing a number of dolphins leaping out of the water near sunset. It was a breathtaking sight.
One word of caution…several times while we were playing in the water, we discovered areas where the bottom just disappeared. We were in waist-deep water, then one step later, even my nearly 6ft tall teenage son could not reach the bottom. We all swim so this was not a problem for us, but if you have littles ones or if you are not a particularly strong swimmer, I suggest extra caution at this beach.
The seagulls had a very strong presence at this beach. They stole bites of my sandwich right out of my hand twice. The second time they appeared to be laughing at me. We definitely were not offering any food to those birds, but it is clear that others have.
I would love to return to this beach. It is one of my favorites in Florida.Written December 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They conveniently provided a wheelchair (first come first served) but the young people who worked there twice made them walk or stand much longer than needed (probably because management tells them to enforce the rules strictly), yelled to each other while they were napping in a quiet corner, etc. Management might want to give workers more discretion/training for serving the disabled public because if you don’t have experience with the elderly you it’s not intuitive. Otherwise a nice excursion, though expensive. The VIP dolphins was up close and personal, really cool even from a wheelchair and made the visit quite special, but it was hard to hear (again, elderly issue) and super pricey. Food was excellent - menu looks like kids fare but the non-fried food was delicious and fresh and cheaper ordered in advance. Two days before Christmas was not a madhouse and we found a couple of quiet outdoor spaces to sit and relax in shade and sun. Signage is not perfect and layout is confusing but you get a good paper map that works ok with the signs. The boat tour we ended up skipping, but just note it’s like 25 people. The boat is covered from the sun.Written December 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robbiek1San Diego, CA11 contributionsA beautiful day with a clean and safe walk. Police presence and security in surrounding areas to make tourists feel welcomed and safe. Love the white sand and the showers when done for the day, as well as bathrooms that were decent and well stocked.Written May 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan GDunedin, FL10 contributionsPerfect venue for a relaxing Friday night. Matt Frick provided the background music. I had Swamp Juice. A fruit infused yum not too dry or sweet or tart. No reservations were required. Only needed for the full tour and wine tasting experience. That's next for me. Little tricky to find but worth the search.Written April 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- MissyPA71Wilmington, NC1,587 contributionsVery good venue. Saw a comedy show. No coffee either. Well…they did have coffee but I had to seek it out and a cup was four dollars. Ugh. The smell of theater popcorn was a bit nauseating. Staff was friendly and polite but could have used better quality concessions. Parking was free and easy, they also had Valet and it was within close proximity to the venue. Show was very good.Written December 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
