Paynes Creek Historic State Park

During this stay we spent a wonderful day fossil hunting with Fred Mazza of Paleo Discoveries on the Peace River that runs along one side of the park (see my review).
The visitor's center is well worth it to learn about the history of the fort that was at the park and the history of the Senecals with the Federal government in the 1800's.

We came to the park to visit the Cracker museum but found it closed (a Saturday) so we ventured to the back of the park and found this gem of an animal refuge!

We drove around the entire park which was well cared for and looked at the other historic buildings which all take you back to a early time in this wild state
Can fish in the river and there is a boat ramp on the park .
