- daisyferret1Bear, DE27,286 contributionsWe usually end up at Govatos Chocolates once a year, usually around the Christmas holiday season. They have 2 locations: Market Street in Wilmington and this location in the Talleyville Shopping Center out on 202. I always go to the Talleyville location on 202 out of convenience, although the Market Street location is where everything is made.
Govatos offers a nice selection of handmade chocolates including creams, nuts, fruits, truffles and more. They have a really nice sized sugar-free selection, which make nice gifts for diabetic friends and family. You can choose a pre-made assorted box or make up your own assortment on the spot. I usually make my own box up. The staff is always willing to put together whatever you want! I usually have them top the box off with some sugar free chocolate covered pretzels too. They gift wrap the chocolates for FREE too! There are usually a few gift wrap selections to choose from.
Govatos also has bags of gummy candy, candy corns (reindeer corn at Christmas), caramels, solid shaped chocolates, marzipan, chocolate covered pretzel rods and MORE in addition to the individual chocolate pieces.
Overall, we have had great experiences with Govatos. The staff is always friendly. They really seem to care about their customers and their experience shopping in the store. This past visit, the lady even chatted with our kids and gave them each a little treat. I have always left happy. Our family & friends always give their sugar-free chocolates rave reviews, which makes me confident in giving it as a gift year after year. I personally like their chocolate covered pretzel rods and coconut clusters. Kids liked the white chocolate covered pretzels and foil wrapped chocolate Santas too. Prices aren't cheap for the assorted chocolates. I think it was around $16.50 for a 1/2 pound box that was slightly over in weight. BUT we don't mind paying for good quality chocolates.
Bottom Line: I would recommend for a special treat every now and then. They had a nice selection of sugar free chocolates in addition to themed chocolates, such as golf, football, etc. We purchased a mixed selection of sugar free chocolates and a golf club chocolate as well. We also purchased some chocolate covered pretzel rods to enjoy on the go.
Overall, we had a good experience with Candy for All Occasions. Staff was friendly and helpful. Chocolates were good. Prices were fair. They have a HUGE selection of candies and chocolates. They couldn't have been any more friendly, checking to make sure it was in stock and that the dates were good. They said they had 5 cases on the shelf, but when I got there fortunately there were still 2 1/2 cases left. Schlitz is one of America's greatest lagers and is no longer available in every market so when I locate it, I buy it.
