I didn’t know what to expect going to this historical performance. I thought it would just be a history lesson being told to us by a historian but at 5 pm on the dot two British soldiers came marching in the door and for the next hour we were
immersed in living in the 1700’s A wonderful job done by Ryan and Andrew and their supporting cast They were very knowledgeable. We throughly enjoyed it

The best Fort Tour Yet, and we have gone to so many. It's very interesting and informative. They fire a huge cannon during the tour. Next to the fort is beautiful beach access. Lots of canons and military equipment outside too. Do not miss the indoor tour. Bring Bikes. Cape Henlopen Park has magnificent beautiful stamped pepple bike trail where you will go through swampy eco areas and see lots of water fowl.

The Creamery was good. Our Grandkids loved the little play area. We made a mistake with what we purchased for them, but the ice cream was very good. Would have enjoyed it more if it was warmer.

Just a quick stop to walk down to the water. Since they charge to park in the lot-one of our group just stayed in the car while we went down to the water.
We visited in mid-week, mid-September, so off-season. It was a beautiful 80 degree no humidity day-so it was beautiful.

While touring around Lewes, DE today, I came upon the Lightship Overfalls at Canalfront Park. The Lightship Overfalls was open for touring, however, I decided not to tour today as there were several people on the ship.

I walked around Canalfront Park and read about the ship. The park has a nice children’s playground, canoe and kayak launch as well as plenty of boats anchored. Nice little quiet park on the bay.

We stopped in for a tasting and left with a great collection of spirits for gifts. The beach plum rum is very unique.

The Zwaanendael Museum is an interesting little museum. The museum houses the history and development of Lewes from a Dutch Colony to the modern shipping and trading town that it became.

The museum showcases shipwrecks, shipping and trading and it even have a mermaid on the second floor. I thought that was interesting. The museum had a display of Deftware, which was a Dutch pottery and displays on the railroad and fishing industries as well.

The nice part is that the museum is free to the public and it was very crowded on this sunny afternoon.

A wide selection of farm fresh toods in a friendly atmosphere. It seems the best vendors come here. The prices are very reasonable and you can get a food education talking with the vendors who all seem to be happy to be there.

The Cannonball House which is part of the Lewes Historical Society is still closed to the public as they are mounting a new exhibition and renovating one of the galleries. I was able to take a sneak peek inside because some of the volunteers were really nice and I wanted to take pictures inside. It really is a unique museum.

I love their telling the American Revolution, the use of pictures of the local history and the use of the displays to show what life was like on the ship. I liked seeing the original cannonball that hit the house during the war. It really shows a localized view of the war as the town played a big part in the early wars.

Remember to visit it when it reopens in a few weeks.

This is a lovely garden maintained by the Lewes in Bloom volunteers. They maintain all the great flower displays around town - great job.

What a nice place to visit and sample some wines. Upon entering you are warmly greeted and then given a quick rundown of the self guided tour of the winery. From there it was on to tasting. Val our tasting specialist was great. She knew everything about their wines and didn't hesitate explaining every feature no matter what wine you sampled.

There are more staff now than there used to be and the shelving has certainly improved. But it can still be difficult to find stuff. Closing on Wednesdays for a public service building is a bit strange and still catches people out It really needs a plan/map, like Uckfield Library.

When did you travel to a library?! I am there several times every week.

The church itself was closed that day but don't miss the opportunity to walk through the historical cemetery. It gives a glimpse into the town's past with all the historical families buried here. Take the time to walk through the family plots and understand who the prominent people in town were in the 1800 and 1900's.
