CONSISTENTLY WORTHWHILE The Wadsworth Atheneum, one of the best art museums between New York and Boston, has been a Hartford institution since the 1840s.
It is always a pleasure to visit the Wadsworth Athenaeum which is among America's oldest museums.

Really enjoyed the center and was a great place to see along with a visit to the Mark Twain House and Museum.

There are several good restaurants in town nearby and a public parking lot across the street from the museums.
Our guided tour of the houses took a little over an hour and we were able to park for free in front of the museum at the time of our visit, which was very convenient.

I’ve been to many, many regional museums and toured many homes and can say without a doubt, this one is a stunner because of the artwork.
Hill-Stead is much more than a terrific museum, it sponsors many events throughout the year including the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival, May-Market and holiday themed tours of the home to name a few.
