We booked a tour with tree huggers, from Luna International Hostel. We spent a great day with gentle horses, nice landscapes, nice company of the guide and horse owner Darvin, who explained everything about the mountain, agriculture, how the community lives and how they care about the environment.
It is amazing to be on a horse so you can stop watching your feet and enjoy the mountains.

I had seen a report about the sculptures on Facebook but really didn’t know much about it. When I got there to my surprise the place is so beautiful. You walk in the farm and are full of exciting expectation. Good hiking shoes is a must. A saw a man walking but didn’t know it was Alberto(the artist)he was so kind and friendly. His work is so remarkable and I strongly recommend it. He’s 78 years old and lives with his siblings.

Original architecture, parking, next to park which is especially appealing at night fall. Good representation of local history and the city.
It's main limitation is its small size-- it is worth seeing if you are in the area but not a destination in and of itself.

The waterfall is beautiful and during the raining season is very strong. Sadly the water was dirty and brown so I didn’t swim in it. I recommend the nature aspect and the peace you feel there.

I went on a wonderful trip to see the middle and high zone of the natural reserve Miraflor Moropotente. There was a all-male cooking competition going on and it was a lot of fun. Also being to see how well protected nature is was a breath-taking experience and definitetly worth it.
    Great Job guys :D

The easiest way to get there by bus at 6:30 from the north bus station, the only day the bus doesn't go is Wednesday and for sure that's the day I wanted to go so I decide to go by walking it's 8km from the city took me 1.5 hours... The waterfall is beautiful and big area you can spend much time that you want and on the way back go or walking or hitchhike back to town.
    Entrance coat 25...

From the moment you begin the Cigar Safari experience you are baptized in the Drew Estate culture. We were greeted on the Cigar Safari bus by Henry Pineda, our tour guide. Henry over the next few days filled our brains with valuable cigar knowledge, tickled us with his humor and blew us away with his passion for everything DE. Then we met creative genius Jessi Flores who went from street punk graffiti artist to head of the most prominent marketing giant in the cigar industry as manager of Subculture Studios. Bring with you shirts, hats, travel humidors, lunch box, whiskey bottle, skateboard, whatever you can pack in your luggage to be customized by this amazing design team with your own Drew Estate souvenir. You are limited only by your own imagination. The true highlight of the Cigar Safari was blending my own cigars. One at the Joya de Nicaragua factory where I created the secretly smooth with a kick Sly Fox and then at the Drew Estate factory where I blended the spicy FireFox. (Hint, contains a 1/4 leaf of Kentucky Fire Cured tobacco). I got to bring home ten cigars of each which I let rest for a few months in my humidor. Finally, as a devout Catholic, I was truly touched by all the statues of Virgin Mary and Jesus on display throughout the Cigar Safari compound. I was truly blessed to be baptized in the Drew Estate culture.

Highland tours went above and beyond for our day trip to Somoto Canyon! Arranging the trip was easy and straightforward and the trek was one of my favorite parts of my trip! Ben and Jerry were fantastic and are clearly very passionate about introducing tourists to the northern areas of Nicaragua- they taught us a lot about the Somoto and the surrounding areas while we drove to the canyon. Ben and Jerry are so much fun and were available to answer any and all questions from our group. I highly recommend Highland Tours to anyone traveling in the north and can’t wait to come back again!

I popped in on my way around town, staying at Los Arcos Hotel which is just a block away. I found the selection of handicrafts very good and the prices pretty low. My favorite find was a pair of earrings for only a dollar!

We did the 24h tour to Telica with Henrique and Angel from Sonati. It was a really nice tour to the volcan and the cave. Henrique is a really nice guide, he really likes the nature and explained us a lot of things on the way. Even if we could not had our camp fire (because of the rain) he took care of us at the evening !
I recommend this trip and people from Sonati are so nice !!!
Plus, your money is gonna be used to help children education !

All the Spanish students at SPANISH SCHOOL NICARAGUA in Esteli take Spanish classes and visit the women cooperative MUJERES AMBIENTALISTAS. This is a great way to help women at thus project because they are singles moms.

These people make immersion easy and fun. The teachers are professional and prepared but keep it light and interesting. Especially like the activities—visiting markets, a cigar factory, coffee shops, etc., while you learn. Staying with a family is the real experience of Nicaragua and keeps you practicing. Surprisingly affordable—I can spend a couple of weeks here for less than I'd spend at home. Lessons by Skype are a great way to prepare or continue.

If you are planing to go dance and have some drinks this is the right place to go, you can dance, chill, have a drink, even smoke inside, do you remember the time when smoking was allowed inside a disco? you can do it here! so this is the perfect disco for the cigar lovers that comes to Estelí.
    Drinks prices are affordable.
    There is an entrance fee.
There are two different areas, the VIP area is located in the second floor, you pay like 4 dollars to go there, there is a nice view and you can go to the regular area if you want to.
If you want to have fun with the locals then forget about the VIP and go straight to the main area, the entrance fee is about 2 USD.

As I was working in a collaboration project in Somoto for 5 months, I discovered a lot about the city.
My favorite bar was El entojo del Toro.
The owners are super nice and friendly, we can hear live music on saturdays from local groups and oaccasionally organise parties.
Most of all, to be visited in special ocasions such as el Carnaval de Somoto.
