This park is great for sitting and listening to the Arkansas River, picnicking, watching kayakers, paddle boarders, rafters, walking your dog, art shows, concerts, etc.

The skiing and snow is as good as anywhere or better, the staff is friendly, food at the lodge is great, and the nearby accomodations down the mountain in Maysville at Creekside Chalets are perfect.
Phil took time to walk the first-timers through each step of the process to getting on the slopes and was patient with all of the questions!

Give the Salida Aquatic Center a try - a fabulous fun place for all ages!!!!!!
3 generation family outing, all had fun, and enjoyed relaxing/playing in the warm Pool.

Make sure you stop in to visit at the visitors center so you can watch the video and pick up some fish food to help the little buggers grow......
They also have some good handouts on Colorado fishing and species which my oldest son enjoyed.

Having said that, if you are in Salida, do make a point to walk along the riverfront area that runs through town Lovely walkway, huge stones to sit on and watch the river roll, and a nice, shaded park right in the...
The cement trail meanders along the river front and if you get the local city map(found in most businesses and rest) you can head towards the duck ponds or to the dog park and farm pastures.
