Their bus picked everyone up at the high school parking lot in Estes Park, after an hour or so ride took us to the Poudre River, outfitted us with our helmets and individually adjusted each person's PFD's.
In the "Mountain Park Campground," located on the river, there are two trails that share the same trailhead: Kreutzer Nature Trail and Mount McConnel Trail.

Easy to moderate hiking and a $6 parking fee (which is good at the South Bay and all trailheads for a 24-hour period) make this a nice way to get nature for hikers/nature lovers of all experience levels.

The DR trail up to Mahoney Park and back down the Power Line trail takes you up into the pines along the north border, briefly into Roosevelt Nat Forest and tops out around 6625' elevation.
A partnership of nature loving organizations and the park rangers keep the area looking great.
