My flight was delayed a couple of hours so I had time to kill and wandered around the different terminals in DIA.

This statue was located as soon as I disembarked at the Terminal B tram station. People were rushing all around me that I felt a little out of place stopping in front of the statue.

The statue depicts John Swigert Jr dressed in a pretty realistic looking space suit. On the backside was a plaque that highlighted it was a replica of the actual one displayed in the US Capitol. It also detailed his education, multiple applications to NASA and the infamous Apollo XIII mission where he and his fellow astronauts successfully piloted their damaged spacecraft back to earth. They were all heroes.

You can find it at Denver Convention Center. There are twelve pieces of seating stones by artist Jonathan Bonner who created an inviting “Zen” space outside the centre.

Originally these bronze sculptures were commissioned by a Colorado ranch owner who wanted to commemorate the cows of his own beloved Scottish Angus herd but later decided to gift them to the Art Museum. They are huge and what we saw people love to take photos with them.

This beautiful bronze sculpture of a Native American hunter standing over a dying bison by Preston Powers represents the end of the traditional lifestyle of Native Americans in Colorado. Originally it was created for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Some years ago the bow being held by the Native American was stolen but apparently found later; unfortunately the sculpture is still without it.

This sculpture is consisting by several red pillars and is made by HOCK E AYE VI Edgar Heap of Birds who is American Cheyenne- Arapaho artist. The artist based the work on the Big Horn Medicine Wheel, a sacred site in northern Wyoming, also the circular form of a traditional Plains Indian Sun Dance lodge. The ten forked poles, or trees, are aligned with the summer solstice—on June 21st, the sun rises in an opening to the east between the first and last poles. Each tree is covered with words and drawings that recount different events in the history of Indigenous peoples in Colorado and the surrounding region, from conflict over resources to global cooperation among indigenous peoples. You need to walk around, read and look at each of the pillars - I think it is great work of art.

Well, seems everything could be called nowadays a modern art, pop art like this by New Yorker artists Coosje van Bruggen and Claes Oldenburg. The Big Sweep is exactly what is it title - metal statue of a colourful broom sweeping rubbish into a blue dustpan. To me confusing and I read "thought-provoking" - what thoughts? This should be public art but the exact cost of the sculpture isn’t publicly disclosed. I cannot say I dislike it, it's fun but if I would live in Denver I would question the costs of it.

This was great collaboration of artist Barry Rose with the students at Cole Junior High School. At our visit there was a wired fence as they did some work in the buildings but we saw the sculpture. It was made in 1981 and is made from ceramic.

The sculpture was made by New York artist Dennis Oppenheim and is located at the north end of the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse. What I read he was inspired by the judge’s chambers and light. I think its nice there and when is hot you can sit on the stairs in its shade.

It is made from Carrara marble by artist Larry Kirkland. Two half heads looking to the past and the future, made from slabs of marble suggesting building-up of layers in the creation of the earth, a city and its communities - what a great symbolism.

The sculpture of this amazing and huge buffalo by T.D. Kelsey is located in front of the History Colorado Centre. Our hotel was not far from this place so we passed by several times and admired the beauty of this big beast.

It was made to celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2006 of National Western Stock Show and symbolizes the role it played in Denver’s Western heritage.
