So beautiful! Bring water and sunblock and plan to walk around. It's mostly flat but there isn't much shade. It's stunning. Truly awe inspiring. I love that it was donated to the city with the promise that it remain a free park forever. You can certainly drive around it as well and see lots of beautiful scenery. There are more crowded central areas as well as less crowded hiking areas.
We popped into the Trading Post which is a gift shop with a Starbucks and little cafe. Very nice place with friendly staff.

I really liked that you could see the animals up close and you can pet the Wallabies. I saw some animals I haven't seen before, like the Pallas cat.

We took our 3 kids on the guided tour with Arnie and George. They were incredibly knowledgeable and patient with all our questions. We are glad to have had this experience at the museum with this tour and we will be back.

After spending a few days in Colorado Springs, I decided to take a few hikes to take advantage of the lovely scenery and great weather! This was one of the best locations in the area to both sightsee and hike, and I was blown away by the view! In my opinion if you are an outdoors person, you have to come here!

The artifacts are really great but the hands on activities make this a fun museum for everyone. You never know which Olympian you might run into! The views of Pikes Peak with access to America the Beautiful park is a bonus!

Having this canyon in our city is amazing--there are a ton of hikes and the views are incredible. You can't go wrong with any hike in the park!

Great hiking experience with easy to moderate, well maintained trails. We drove on the acres road which turns into a gravel road for the last 15 minutes or so, to include 2 short tunnels for cars within the mountain. At the end of the road there is ample parking space. We took the uphill trail which then will lead to the Seven bridges side trail. All together from the parking we walked 45 minutes to reach the fourth bridge and then turned back. There was light snow part of the way.

Be prepared for a LONG walk up almost 300 very steep stairs to get to the (almost) top. I live in Southern California and was not prepared not only for the altitude issues - but for the feeling I got going up the stairs (not great).

However - it is gorgeous and the views are just so pretty!! I think one of the issues is so many people on the stairs and it gets a little scary trying to hold on to the rails AND deal with the steepness.

    Worth it though. Very pretty

The road going to Helen Hunt Falls was closed. We hiked the downhill hike to go see it. The falls are not that big but were pretty and had a good water flow. Very peaceful.

You can download an app and take a walking tour of the district or you can just stroll around and explore on your own. Appreciate the details of the buildings, stop and have a bite to eat or enjoy a drink, and it's a great place to grab a shirt as a souvenir!

Pretty cool museum that focuses on local Colorado Springs history. It is always free to enter as they just work on donations. I was surprised at how much information they had in the museum. It takes probably about and hour and half and there are two floors to explore. The best part was definitely the room where everything was broken up by decade, starting with the founding of the city all the way until present day. I spent most of my time reading everything in that room.

The Penrose Heritage Museum houses a large display of Carriages along with other memorabilia from the early days of Colorado Springs. This part of the museum was very interesting with a wealth of information. The other part of the Museum is focused on the history of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The displays are very informative and great for a race fan. I highly recommend the Museum as a great place to spend a couple of hours for the whole family.

Keep a lookout for frequent events at this living history sight. We've even seen a period baseball game attended by Prez Lincoln himself. Buy a membership to support this beautiful place and save all year.

Lots of trails and hidden lookouts. Very confusing signage and web of trails from SE parking lot. Some are dead ends or overgrown narrow paths. GPS is not accurate BTW. There is a lot of sand aka kitty litter on the trails making it hard to walk or bike. There are a lot of unmarked parking areas in the park. The dog park has a very low fence, and there were people have an argument.
