What travelers are saying
- KenVicLeeHuntington Beach, CA2,075 contributionsAmongst the tourist hub-bub of Solvang, this mission is an oasis of tranquility. We wandered through the grounds just as folks were being called to mass. The church bells were so enchanting as we looked out over the fields below the mission grounds. You could almost imagine the padres greeting the local farmers back in the 1800's.Written January 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Becca HIndianapolis, Indiana, United States46 contributionsIn Santa Barbara for the holidays with our grown kids. Needed something to do on a very rainy day so we decided to visit some wineries. This was our first stop and as we enjoyed the tasting so much, we bought a bottle and some munchies and enjoyed the covered patio, drinking great wine and listening to a talented singer. Made for a perfect afternoon!
Very tasty wines, nice people, good food, pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend.Written December 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The theater is beautiful and was recently renovated. The tickets are very affordable and the quality of the performances is high. We recently enjoyed Into the Woods…very fun and professionally done!Written August 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Graham B1 contributionIn May of this year myself and a group of friends from Europe were visiting California on motorbike tour and we made a special visit to Solvang specifically to visit the museum.
With a few days advance notice Jill very kindly agreed to open up the museum for us and show us around.
A fantastic collection of extremely rare bikes, some of them unique, all topped off by Jill's friendly welcome and excellent knowledge on the history of every bike on display.
Well worth a visit for anyone who love bikes!Written July 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael GSanta Clarita, CA130 contributionsNice help from the nice lady there, she was very helpful and gave us advice, she was well informed so better able to advise us. Lots of brochures and notices of what is going on. Very clean and organized. It's not a massive visitor center, it's really an office, But then again, Solvang is a little town. So it is appropriate.Written January 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ItchyFeetCamarillo, CA7,666 contributionsWe visited in April ‘21 and around Christmas and it’s a nice place to see and enjoy night or day any time of the year. Centrally located near the places in town with good food and danish treats.Written April 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pneon99Thousand Oaks, CA290 contributionsWe were on our way up to Solvang and we were looking for something to see or do on the way up. About 15 minutes outside of Solvang is this quaint little hike to a very tiny waterfall. The hike up is like a 10 minute non strenuous walk but it is very beautiful. It wasn't busy when we went up so the walk was nice a quiet lots of wildlife to see on your way up, birds, squirrels etc.. This would be a great beginners hike or a hike with kids, dogs, older people etc. as it is fairly flat the entire way. The "falls" itself are pretty underwhelming as there isn't a lot of water flowing, This isn't Multnomah Falls in Oregon, look it up... Overall a nice quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of Solvang, if there is such a thing..
Tips:
Parking is free and located near by
Bathrooms on site and as dirty as you would expect a park bathroom to be.. the ones down the hill are much cleaner.. The chickens and ducks are usually from the local area. They also have goats. They are open to the public on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They don't have a set admission, but they do ask for a donation. The people are definitely loving toward their animals and have plenty of space for them to be in. They've given the animals individual names and some of the donkeys have had babies after they arrived at the rescue location. There were families there with small children and they keep brushes available for any of the animals that you'd like to spend extra time with. This would be a good activity for families with children.Written February 2, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tammyjewel628Houston, TX220 contributionsIf you are fan of his works, then you should go. It's difficult to find and parking is challenging. There is a museum at his home, we ended up there first, so it can be confusing. It's a bit of a walk from the garage although not super bad and I don't walk much, but be aware. The museum is interesting and layed out well. Somewhat interactive. The gift shop is good: I wish they had more choices for Christmas ornaments.Written October 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Keng LHomer Glen, IL1,370 contributionsWine tasting across from Toccata. Friendly hostess and good wines. Tasted the reds and most good bold wines. - yalibrarianSan Antonio, TX331 contributionsI've been here twice, and it hasn't disappointed yet. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, unintimidating; the vineyards picturesque and relaxing. The tasting is outside and includes five wines. I am totally enamored with their Chardonnay. And their Cab. I joined their wine club for the Chardonnay alone, and I don't even like Chardonnay all that much! Reservations are required. An easy drive from Solvang or Los Olivos.Written March 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GradingMachineOak Park, CA496 contributionsMy wife and I stumbled upon this gem of a winery by accident. If the receipt included the server's name, we'd give her a shout-out. She had a bit of up-do with lots of enthusiasm. We enjoyed hearing her detailing of each wine along with the elaborate write-up. As English teachers, we appreciated the write-ups. We look forward to our next visit! One note: make sure the white wines are more chilled.Written July 24, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
