What travelers are saying
- Mike LPortland, OR135 contributionsThis is a review for the "Behind the Scenes" tour that my family and went on. We decided to do this instead of the jeep/ safari ride out into the park as it was much more interactive with the animals. It was FANTASTIC! My family and I had the best time and it was such a unique experience to feed the warthogs, giraffes, porcupines and birds with Megan (our Safari West guide). I HIGHLY recommend this for any one but especially as a family activity as it is one I will always remember! Just Amazing!Written September 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- craig1086Atlanta, GA1,903 contributionsCame here on a Friday afternoon in November. People were there, but it was not busy, so it was quiet. Parking is free in the adjacent lot. It's curated very well in Mr. Schultz's memory, and is a shrine to his beloved Peanuts characters. It's two levels, so give yourself 60-90 minutes to walk around and view everything without rush. Make sure to see the ice rink next door!Written November 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Laura EHoschton, United States16 contributionsWe went twice this week! Our wine educator was Maria and was so fun, friendly, and a great educator. She recommended the food and wine pairing, which is why we went twice this week. Excellent food, beautiful, beautiful vineyard and the only one we joined this week.Written August 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anne Marie SMichigan8 contributionsWe absolutely loved our experience. The grounds are beautiful, but the wines are just as lovely. Joanne was so welcoming and knowledgeable. One of our most favorite experiences of our trip.Written October 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA18,134 contributionsThis park is very large and quite near the suburban development around this big and growing city. Lots of places to hike and make a picnic and just enjoy the outdoors. Beware hot weather.Written September 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MomGraduateAlabama4 contributionsThis was a wonderful place to enjoy an hour in Santa Rosa - my tour was lovely and very knowledgeable. And the house was full of original furnishings which was a treat to get to see.Written September 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EdwardSanta Rosa, CA3,181 contributionsHowarth Park is one of the largest, and probably the most varied, city park in all of Sonoma County. It includes a large playground with western town, climbing structures, and more, plus a smaller playground in a different area; lawns; bbq areas; a small train to ride; a merry-go-round; a lovely lake with paddle boats to rent, sailing classes, and more; and bicycling, hiking or walking trails, both paved and unpaved, through shaded oak forest and the remains of historic basalt quarries. We go here all the time. We used to take our kids to the train or playgrounds and now we hike here on a regular basis. Moreover, the park and its trails link directly into the larger Spring Lake County Park and from there to the much larger and more wild Annadel State Park. Altogether, these make a huge and varied park system which starts right in town and goes out for many miles into the hilly countryside.Written October 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - candacejoMurfreesboro, TN742 contributionsVisiting our grands and they wisely have a membership to this small but plenty-to-do children’s museum. Raised in the Indianapolis area, home to the largest children’s museum in the WORLD, it takes a lot to impress. But don’t let size keep you from going to this local gem!!! It is fantastic. Our kids love it and even though they go often,
They always want to go back! There were water activities outside, a helicopter, yes, a helicopter!
Lots of photo opportunities along the way and special music or storytelling too.
Inside there was a great, interactive kitchen where my granddaughters took my order and made me a scrumptious pretend lunch. Complete with the coolest oven/grill I have ever seen for play plus a working old time cash register.
There’s also a fire engine and house that is “on fire” and they can dress up and pull the hose to the fire and all kinds of goodness in that area for teaching and play.
Upstairs I can’t tell about because I didn’t venture up but it is open so you can see the second floor as well.
Your child can use his/her imagination all day long!Written August 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Part of it conveniently extends right in town, connecting directly to neighborhoods in eastern Santa Rosa as well as connecting by trail directly to a large county park (Spring Lake Park) and large city park (Howarth Park) in town. There are trailheads directly in town from the adjacent neighborhoods. However, it is very extensive, covering many square miles and extending over the mountains to the Sonoma Valley and towards the small town of Glen Ellen.
It includes mostly hilly, partly forested wild areas, but has picnic and bbq places as well. There re numerous unpaved dirt or gravel trails extending high into the hills above town and providing nice views over Santa Rosa as well as the surrounding countryside.
There is also a reservoir, Lake Ilsanjo, which provides nice swimming in warm weather. There are streams flowing through the park as well.
This provides a lot of great hiking, running, bicycling, boating and other activities, all easily accessed in town.
It is free to enter this park on foot but one must pay if driving in and parking.Written April 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The special feature is information about all the wineries that have wine tasting. But you can also pick up maps and information about places to stay.Written September 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
