Downloaded All Trails app before we went and very glad I did! The trail out to Phantom Falls was pedestrian at the beginning, then more interesting, will lots of wild flowers. But then there was a dead cow on the trail on the way down into a ravine for a smaller falls on the way, smelly! So coming back All Trails gave us an alternative route that missed the ravine and we saw live cows instead. Phantom Falls itself was lovely. Very little shade so bring at least a quart of water per person.

    Camped on Aug. 2020

After being cooped-up working from home due to covid, decided to go camping. We stayed at the Lake Oroville Lime Saddle Campground. No lake access at this campground; there's unmarked trail to the lake but no beach and very steep.
Camp sites were generally clean and well maintained. They have paved parking next to tent sites. Our site has power outlet and water faucet, fire grill and a concrete picnic table. The camp sites were well spread out but some locations can be close to each other. No mosquitoes at night; occasional bees during daytime while eating attracted to our food. Bathrooms were clean. Clean hot and cold shower; needs tokens --- 2 tokens for $1; 1 token for 2 minutes. During our stay, it was very hot during the day and doesn't cool off till late night. The campground is closer to Paradise than Oroville; there's a Save Mart in Paradise for groceries. For swimming, only choice is North Forebay. Loafer Creek, the main swimming area, was closed for construction. The water temp was cold anyway. Water level was also low so no water coming out from the new spillway. Visitor Center was closed due to Covid-19. No floating campsites. Even trail to Feather Falls was closed. I might try other campgrounds next time; hopefully, the rest of the attractions around Lake Oroville will be opened soon.

I had visited here when I was a kid, but visited again last weekend (at age 61). Actually got more out of it on this visit. Built around 1860 and funded both by the Emperor and Empress of China and volunteered local Chinese labor - it is small but important.

Opening hours are very limited, so check their schedule before you visit. Small, quiet piece of California history

Sitting atop Oroville's Kelly Ridge, the visitor center overlooks the lake and the dam. Inside, you'll find interpretive displays about the dam's history and area's native people, an audio-visual room showing films and live-feeds of the dam, and a gift shop.

Our favorite part, though, is the 47-foot viewing tower, where you can get panoramic views of the dam and Lake Oroville unaided, and, with the help of the two high-powered telescopes, the Sierra Nevadas, valley, foothills, and Sutter Buttes.

Lots of parking and an easy walk to see the salmon. This is something you shouldn't miss out on. You are right next to them as they swim upriver to spawn.

The hike into Feather Falls is a must do for anyone game to do it. Plan an all day adventure and pack in a lunch. This was my 3rd time hiking in and it doesn’t get easier with age. The falls are beautiful and the upper trail is well maintained. I believe the lower (shorter) trail has since been closed. Yes this one is shorter but brutal coming out as 90% is uphill.

I loved every second of our visit. My husband and I were heading home from a 10 day trip and had a tasting stop scheduled. Little did we know we would run in to road construction which caused a delay. We got there with only 20 minutes until closing. We were welcomed and allowed to do our tasting. The pairings were remarkable. The owner even gave us an after hours tour of the beautiful establishment. We were given the option to sit on the balcony to take in the breathtaking views. Wow! What great customer service. I love this place and really really enjoy the Moscato Dolce dessert wine.

Kirshners takes in injured wild animals and ones who would be preyed upon in the wild due to their being unable to defend itself normally.
They are very strict with how close you can get to the wild animals. Most have safe zones around them.
They take care that animals who qualify to be released back in the wild have very little human contact in order to keep them wild.
They get fed well with fresh meats for the cats etc...
They have planted trees to add to the current trees around them for added shade and are good to educate visitors about why each animal is there.
Do not go during mid day cause it’s hard to see the animals as the pens are covered and shaded so you can’t see their beauty or colors as well and they are usually just sleeping mid day. Best to go in the morning or shortly before they close.
The setting is in a beautiful quiet valley area in the country with natural views in all directions.

My husband and I had a great time hiking the Phantom Falls. The weather was perfect and it had just rained the previous day. The wildflowers all over the rolling hills was simply divine! The hike itself wasn't too hard. Just a bit of an elevation in some parts. I would love to come back again someday!

With over 12,000 hand tools, Bolt's Antique Tool Museum is bursting at the walls with displays, history, cataloging, information, and extremely knowledgeable docents to help in maintaining the museum.

Even if you're not interested in the history of tools, you'll find this to be a uniquely Oroville experience that makes for a fun visit.

A Girl Named Tom held a consert at the casino & they were great. We grabbed a quick dinner in the sports bag area then on to the consert. The venue was great & indoors. We weren't there for the gambling. All in all, a great time.

This is such a great family business. This is a great place to get things like Peaches and Apricots, but those are only a few of the many things they grow and sell. They also have Organically grown meats that you can buy in larger quantities. On top of it all that, the family has taken in foster kids over the years and have exposed them to the wonders of farming, family, and self esteem. They are wonderful folks!!!
