What travelers are saying
- Mike TDeephaven, MN241 contributionsRiviera is an iconic establishment. It represents the best in golf. I don't know about the membership process as I was a guest. But the course and facilities are certainly first class.
I was there forty years ago and it was a fabulous place then and is now.Written January 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The decor is fabulous, the ambience incredible and the staff simply amazing - their attention to detail is second to none. A real treat and a huge privilege to be allowed to play and stay at this famous venue.Written March 10, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yasu ADetroit, MI128 contributionsAngeles National GC is the only golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. It is very unique and unforgettable. The difficulties can be adjusted by changing the tee box. Many shots require precision distance and direction. It is in a great condition. Everyone must play here at least once when you are in LA.Written December 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SteveJ3305Louisville, KY60 contributionsThe fairways and greens on this par 3 are in very good shape. But you are required to hit off mats so if you don’t like that, then this course is not for you. But it has interesting and challenging holes. It is very reasonable to play at $8 dollars for nine and four dollars for a reply.Written November 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ahsan JamilBoston, MA157 contributionsNear a popular Venice beach. A good get away from LA life. Good price a true LA local crowd. Visitors are quite welcome here. Played a few times with good LA players.Written July 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ricardofrSebastopol, CA244 contributionsWe had a wedding at golf course and after the reception was at club house.
What a nice place to have a wedding with beautiful view of the greens and the mountains and was nice.
The club house was nice but may be needs a face lift to become even better!
On the end we went to the Merry go round next to the golf course was impressive how well maintained it is.
Nice place to visit!Written March 28, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tee boxes, fairways, greens, and bunkers were in great shape. Nothing spectacular about the layout but it's a fun and quick round. Open and wide fairways.
Played in a five-some on a Monday morning and we got done in 4 1/2 hours. Kept up with the group ahead so pace was good. Still had to wait at a few holes but nothing to really cry about considering the price.
I would definitely return next time I'm in the area. Only reason it won't get five stars is because it didn't magically give me hole-in-ones or take my breath away. Definitely had fun.Written December 29, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Every hole has an amazing, different view of Los Angeles. Not too challenging but the greens are always in excellent condition. Monday - Friday fees are $16 / Weekends $20.50
If you are from out of town, you can rent a set of clubs for $10. Really.
Nice walking course plus a cafe for a bite of lunch. You also need to have an ice cream bar before heading out on the course.Written August 22, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SushPowerOmaha, NE96 contributionsDisc golf course that is situated on a par 3, 18 hole golf course. I played during the morning but hear they have night golf as they have lights which would have been great to try out. Cost was $7 for all day play and you have to share the course with the ball golfers but I didn't run into any while my 2 rounds even though there were some on the course. Course will very well maintained with tee signs. Had to use the course map on a couple of holes to find the tee boxes. They do sell discs on-site but can be a bit pricey so better to bring enough for yourself. Would definitely play there again.Written November 14, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Steve LSimi Valley, CA42 contributionsPlayed here last week and the course was in mediocre shape...then ate in the 19th hole for lunch and they need to upgrade their quality of food and service. - Yasu ADetroit, MI128 contributionsTheir driving range is open til late, 9pm. It’s nothing special but nice to be able to hit some balls late at night. - Tony MLos Angeles, CA67 contributionsIf you are new to the game of Golf or a veteran it does not matter at this particular course. Very forgiving, wide open on weekdays, wide fairways, all kinds of golfer play here and I seems to be 0 attitude vibe.
A special tip, use the driving range before going out and you might just find brand new and used balls in your range ball collection?

I'm an avid golfer but not great, usually shoot in the 90's, and live in PicFair Village right in the middle of LA so play some of the public courses like Rancho but I just don't have time for 5-6 hour rounds and all the good semi-private courses are at least 1 hour away. I would gladly pay $100/round but there's no course within 30-45 minutes of me where I could do this.
The big thing that attracted me to MGCC is that it's semi-exclusive so it's a lot less busy than comparable public courses. I usually finish in 3.5-4 hours and could probably play even faster. The course itself is nice and in good condition, I would compare it to similar valued courses in the $100/round range in LA. I like that it's a challenging course but not impossibly narrow or anything like that. Nice views too with the mountains surrounding you and there's nothing better than teeing off while people are stuck in 405 traffic :) It's somewhat against traffic too if you play mid morning so that's a nice benefit - usually takes me 20-30 mins to get there.
I signed up for a Junior Executive membership so I can play Mon-Fri and pay for a weekend round (~$100) if I wanted to play weekends. The one downside to this club is that it does get busy - the deposit and even monthly fees are pretty reasonable/low so you get a lot of people who join - this is why I called it semi-exclusive. I've found that it's best to book tee times asap 1 week in advance if you want to play during the busy times.
The clubhouse/food was a surprise hit and I've enjoyed almost everything I've ordered - not gonna win any awards but definitely a solid menu and good service. The staff all around has been great and Jaquelyn, the membership director, was super helpful. If you play once a week, I think the membership pays for itself and if you value your time at over $250/hr, then this course will pay for itself with just 1 or 2 rounds a month. It's been nice to bring clients/guests here too so definitely a nice intangible benefit for my business, networking and relationships.
Pro-tip: If you're considering joining, reach out to MGCC and ask for a couple comped rounds so you can try out the course. And if you have any further q's, shoot me a message here on yelp or @therideshareguy and I'll be happy to answer them for you. They do offer referral bonuses so I'm always looking to sign up my friends lol :)Written June 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
