What travelers are saying
- NicoleHermosa Beach, CA6 contributionsThe best selection of brews! We each tried two different flights then chose our favorites from those to get pints. Love how many choices there are and how many fun things there is to do there like board games and unique artWritten August 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Scarlett628New York119 contributionsMy family and I saw the Sunday Company show and it was hilarious. My kids are 18-22, so the content was fine for them, though as a mom, I did cringe in a couple of places! There isn't a bad seat in the house, so no need to rush into the room when the doors open and trample one another. I loved that there was no drink minimum, which is really why I purchased tickets initially, but this ended up being the perfect show for us. With intermission, the show ran about 3 hours, so be prepared for that. We found street parking fine just down the street from the theater.
A shout out to the band too! The music between sets was awesome!Written July 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I've been going to shows there for decades. It is such a special place- small, but intimate. I've seen some of the most incredible musicians there. (Allan Holdsworth, RIP). I've read the reviews about the new patio situation. I guess that means that I get there even earlier next time. It's worth it. Also, the baked potatoes are so off the hook that I might drive down just to get one. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. Glad to know the Spud is still going strong. I'd like to keep it a secret, but I have international friends that are jealous that I get to go there so I guess the secret is out. :)Written December 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Craig DMissouri City, MO579 contributionsThis is a convenience store with some historic and nostalgic displays. The porch has a cafe and pastries in the morning. There's a deli inside the store for salads and sandwiches. Not a good craft beer selection. It's difficult to turn left out of the parking lot.Written October 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LynnruthPacifica, CA18 contributionsScot Nery is a genius and a star entertainer. The people he books for each show are unusual and fun. This is a show anyone and everyone would love. - Roberto SerriniNew York City, NY748 contributionsNo Vacancy needs no help, it is a destination all it's own. - Mary CLos Angeles, CA284 contributionsThe Frolic Room has been a cocktail bar in Hollywood since 1941. They have cocktails, mixed drinks, draft beer, and bottled beer. They also have a juke box. It is a famous dive bar and a visit is a must if in Hollywood. it is just fun.
They have really nice bouncers outside, one at a time is all they need. They change people a lot or I just go on days when the regular guys have a day off. There is really no need anyway, I have never seen a problem there. They are not going to overserve you, getting just plastered there is not what you are going to do. If you do drink there, know the drinks are strong, so think about that before you get in a car. You can get and Uber or whatever with ease.
Going with friends is super fun. The bartenders are great and make fantastic drinks. They know how to make anything. They are also nice to the designated driver--I am often the one.
It is clean and safe. It is located right next to the Hollywood Pantages theater. It is small but it has the coolest neon sign that you will be able to see.
Parking can be a bear on the street, mind the many signs. There is parking just about a half block away in what is called Eastwood Parking, or something like that.
Hollywood burger is right across the street if you want a fast bite.

- Sherra HBakersfield, CA23 contributionsI am from out of town so I used trip advisor to see what entertainment I should do during my trip. This improv did not disappoint. They had valet service for $18 that you pay for when you leave only. I just gave them a 20.
The food actually surprised me. It was good. The mozzarella sticks are huge so we could only eat half the order. Never seen sticks that big. The meatball sandwich and quesadilla were great. There is a two item minimum per person so we had drinks. Since it all tasted good, I was satisfied. Settle up with the wait staff as soon as you can and don't wait until the end. I never did get refills so glad I had water too other than the iced tea.
If you want good seats, get there early as it's first come first serve. I think I got there at 6:45 for the 7:30 showing. There were 5 comedians and I was in literal stitches laughing. Ladies might want to consider wearing waterproof mascara! It was a fantastic night out. I was able to walk out fast to the valet because I had paid earlier. Nice to leave the crowd behind!Written November 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This WAS the place to have a party in downtown LA.
There were no lineups on the Saturday evening that we came here to cap off our day of exploring DTLA. We were able to snag one of the few highboys along the edges of the bar. We had two rounds of mezcal margaritas and several bar bites from the menu, which I thought were excellent. Looking around, the patrons were definitely not the high energy, trendy crowd of the past. I suspect they have moved on to the next hot thing. But there's nothing like enjoying a cocktail surrounded by the tallest buildings in LA and enjoying the romantic early evening light of a city that still has not lost its ability to cast a spell.Written October 27, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CamillaWest Hollywood, CA28 contributionsVisiting this bar is like taking a time machine back to the 70´s. The decor, the music and the entire atmosphere makes this place so special. Its like stepping into someones home with different rooms as they used to look in the 70s. Some nights they have live music as well which is a plus.
The only part I do not like is that they built a bar on the outside. My first visit here was 5 years ago and then the bar used to be an old trailer that you had to order through which had its charm but the place is still great.
I do recommend visiting this place but be on time, especially on the weekends as there usually is a line.Written September 17, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is one of the relatively few old Tiki places still around and is excellent. They make excellent drinks, the service is excellent, and the place is chockablock with Tiki/Polynesian/Pacific Island themed items and decor. Because it's small and popular with loyal locals and visitors alike, and has limited hours, it can get busy and one may need to wait, but it's worth it, especially if you love Tiki places.Written February 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah DManchester, UK193 contributionsDidn’t wait too long for a table and enjoyed a cocktail while we did. The barman kindly made me a blue lagoon cocktail, that’s not on the menu. We were shown to our table by our waiter, who was very attentive and helpful. We noticed that there were a lot of empty tables, so couldn’t quite understand the wait. Once we placed our order we waited around 40 minutes for our meal, which was ok. I don’t think there wait enough wait staff, they were run off their feet. They did the best job they could.Written January 13, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
