- FgDavie, FL322 contributionsWanted to see the filming locations but there are only markers sonyou just have to use your imagination. Great rock formations.Written January 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SuzKatIowa20 contributionsCall first to check on hours. We arrived 10 minutes before it was to close ,which gave an incorrect time online. The volunteer was so kind to stay open longer so we could watch the film, which we enjoyed.Written February 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - socaltripperCalifornia75 contributionsI've hike the main trail to Mt. Whitney ten times. Two treks were as day hikes and the other hikes were overnight trips (staying one night at Trail Camp on the way up).
This hike is an epic experience, but you need to plan and prepare accordingly. Aside from the physical part of the hike, there is a mental component because your mind wants to turn you around. In addition, unless you're already an athlete you'll need to put in some training time. Another key component is getting acclimated. If you can spend several nights at altitude prior to your hike your body will perform better.
Finally, this is the kind of demanding physical experience you do and say "never again," but find yourself coming back for one more time.Written June 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen OBalcatta, Australia78 contributionsYou leave Lone Pine and go way up the mountains on that zig zagging road!!! Way up to the top and into the woods. What a view on the way. Well worth a day trip to the campground. Or, to get to the Cottonwood Pass Trailhead or Army pass trailhead. Its a wonderful place to spend the day or start the trail. Have entered the JMT twice this way and highly recommend. You get to start way high up in elevation and get some wonderful views of the Owen Valley as you go up up up the zig zagging road!!!Written July 23, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Global-VillagerrDenver, CO334 contributionsI love driving through this area for the views of the Sierra. The valley is spectacular, and there is a wonderful vista point on the east side of the lakebed on CA 136. Breathtaking views. But since all the water has been pumped to LA, it is a jarring desert in the middle of the mountains. Can only imagine what it must have been like when it was in its natural condition.Written February 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - iqbal66Baltimore, MD107 contributionsSummitted the Mount Langley with two friends on Oct 8th. We spent the night at the Cottonwood Lakes and next day hiked to the Month Langley summit from New Army Pass route. Beautiful sunny day, a bit windy. Amazing views especially as you climb up the New Army Pass. We left 9am from Cottonwood Lakes area and reached the summit around 1pm. This was a tough hike especially the last mile before the summit due to altitude/lack of oxygen. The trail is well kept. Please carry plenty of water and electrolytes. I started to have cramps in my legs, water with electrolyte really helped with the leg cramps.Written October 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul SCosta Mesa, CA1,661 contributionsWhile visiting Lone Pine during our 2017 Labor Day trip, my boys and I detoured here for a quick stop to stretch our legs, take a look around, and use the restrooms.
This is a smaller neighborhood park but don't let that stop you from a quick visit if you need to get out and stretch or have a picnic lunch. The park has a tennis court basketball court, horseshoe pits, picnic tables, large grassy areas, and a children's play area, Parking is easy and it has both a small parking lot with about 10 spaces and street parking as well. The restrooms are standard public restrooms - you get the idea.
The basketball and tennis courts looks really well maintained although the weekend we were there it was topping out at about 100 degrees so there was no way anyone was using the courts that weekend. There was one other family with small children playing on the kids equipment.
Overall, this is a nice little neighborhood park. I wouldn't necessarily make this a stop as there is so much to do around Lone Pine but it is cute. if you have small children who just want a chance to run around on some playground equipment as a break from hiking or fishing, this is a good stop.Written September 9, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert1 contributionLovely shop has pretty much everything you’d want in a marijuana store. The clerk was very helpful and knew her products inside out. And she was very nice to talk to. I intend to do all my shopping there.Written August 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
