I came here for the beachfront paved trail and was not disappointed. There is so much to view along your walk, all while keeping sand out of your shoes! Walk down the pier and watch the surfers, There is an awesome kite shop on the pier and there were a ton of people on the beach nearby flying amazing and interesting kites like I'd never seen before. I did not try the restaurant at the pier but it seemed lively. People were also playing beach volleyball.

The dog beach has very friendly people and very good clean spaces as you go the beach is full of friendly dogs and people to hang out with and share happiness with everyone and every time I go I never see a fight between dogs or anything everything is so peaceful and I recommend you go there for your dog to have some fun at the water!

We spent 9 days in HB and cycled to Newport Beach and Sunset beach. Got Uber to Laguna. Laguna beach the nicest. All beaches have good points. Son loves football and beaches not great for running on. The volleyball courts were great.

It was a nice beach. Long walks, swim in the ocean and picnic in the sand. I would do it all again in a hearts beat.

How folks don't know about Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is beyond me as it is RIGHT THERE along the PCH near Huntington beach, but we love is as Our Own special spot.

Hundreds of acres of flat trails and wetlands. Tons of birds and fish (and lizards and bunnies, if you pay attention). Free parking. Docents on many weekends to tell you what species you are seeing, or well informed visitors who will do the same.

You can easily walk for 3+ hours and not cover the same ground twice. GO!

On the positive side, this is a fun (or it should be, anyway) pedestrian friendly strip of shopping just off the beach. So many good opportunities for dining, shopping, and walking are among the highlights of strolling this stretch of Main Street.

But it is very, very congested (almost always) and any good dining opportunities are few and far between. Lots of nice fast food quickie spots though. Forget about BJ's as it is a madhouse, packed shoulder-to-shoulder with noise levels off-the-charts.

Maybe the best alternative is to find some good food and bring it on back to dine in your room. Wish we would have done that, BJ's pub was pure insanity and it takes a lot of poor service for us to register our displeasure and leave a $3 tip (yes, it was all that bad). Cold pizza, poor service, consider your options!

Still, Main Street/downtown has places to waste some time and maybe some money. Can't say this is a super-strong draw for us but it is nice to have a "Downtown" so close to the beach.

One of our great finds (oh, well , it should have been, anyway) was a small Shawarma shop, "Charlies", on Main Street. The owner is from Jerusalem so thought we'd give him a try. Our Shawarma/Doner Kabop taste buds are pretty sophisticated (having been honed in Europe at some of our favorite places) but ... the truth if it is, I make far better shawarma than this wonderful man makes. Chalk this up for a failure.

    You can't win them all.

Civil war reenactment over Labor Day weekend in Central Park is fantastic and brings history alive. Tents are clustered together or the rebels and the union soldiers and all of the different services they required. Women with huge hoop skirts seem to float over the ground, and all sort of soldiers and scouts wander around. There is a band that plays Dixie and other songs of the era. President Lincoln was there both days and gave his famous Gettysburg address as well as answering any questions the visitors had. Ulysses S grant also was in attendance. There were four battles with cannons and rifles and it was clear that war is hell. Around the periphery are vendors with clothing and trinkets of the 1860s and food. The event is free.

A cool place that is very small, and thus has very limited displays that are sometimes something less than inspirational.

Nice little mall with underground parking and some higher end shops. Mostly clothes shops and restaurants but definitely worth a visit. The restaurants have a great view out over the sea.

This is a gorgeous mall as far as malls go! Worth a visit for the ambience alone but has a good range of shops also.

to all the homeless living in their cars, the parking lot is an awesome place to camp & hang out, drink beer, smoke weed, do an oil change or any kind of auto repair, you can even dump trash. the huntington beach police dept never responds to calls to the library & the staff are too lazy & afraid to say anything. best place in the world. spread the word, this is the place to be.

This is a nice place to celebrate Oktoberfest with friends. The sitting situation is less than ideal and you have to constantly be on the lookout for a table. Once someone sits, they aren’t getting up until they leave the venue. The beer selection was great. Many German beers to choose from at different bars. It is pricey, a round of 5 beers was well over $100. The best part is there’s no nonsense or rough crowds like the Oktoberfest in LA.

I bike ride this marsh whenever I can. If you stop and read the signs they are very educational and the wildlife is very cool. occasionally you will see birds of prey. A raptor was on a wire for it seemed hours one day and people just stopped took pics and moved on. Good exercise too!
